I can go up to 2L if you are asking me. Though Initially I feel I shud stick with IOF and once I know how to take care and stuff like that I go for higher versions.

I actually joined this site for guidance from the people... life is too short to learn everything from experience... is what I believe !

The thing to understand over here would be I do not have any knowledge about guns and guess I would be the first one in my family to hold any kind of gun with license.
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink I feel shame. Then I think about the workers in the vineyards and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn’t drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, “It is better that I drink this wine and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.”

If your budget is 2L then go for IOF stuff. Try and get a used one because your can't resell (normally) a brand new one for 5 years.

Make a choice between a pistol or revo. Revo is simpler and less things to go wrong. But it is not safe to leave it around the house loaded.

Thanks AMK, I do not think I will go for a used one. I will not sell it. Once I get confident enough about myself handling and keeping the gun I would then go for something better.

Right now I do not know any ABC of guns. I guess if I come in front of the experts over here I won't be even able to pronounce GUN correctly :(

I got two kids and think Revolver might be more messy than a pistol... in fact anything is if one is not careful enough, even a small kitchen knife or a pair of scissors!

Here is what happened when I was after my first firearm. My uncle showed me his .22 rifle and said that it would be more useful and good to learn with. So I would also say that get a long firearm first, discover what its like having it at home and all the safe storage aspects.
i am still a little wary of handguns. Though i quite enjoy shooting them and normally shoot air pistols a lot.

.32 IOF revolver or .32 IOF pistol

Post by bhimashankar » Fri Jun 20, 2008 12:02 pm

As a new comer to this field please advise me you all seniors and expierenced members, that which one of these two models .32 IOF revolver or.32 IOF pistol, should I buy? Which one is convenient more to carry and to use fast? And why pistol is cheaper than revolver as the rates mentioned on IOF site, is there any technical reason? Please give me suggestion as I have to apply immidiately for any one of these two.

Please go through the relevant threads under 'Handguns' and you 'll find all answers....
Both have their ups and downs so ultimately it'll be your personal choice. It is best read than written.. ! :)

Hi bros,
two things, purpose -whenever I go for ambush, attack or encounter, I just can't afford to take revolver. But for self defence at normal times I keep my revolver ..

Advantages of revolver for self defence-
better reliability
ability to initiate offensive with one hand also. Like while driving.
no magazine malfunctions for first shot which is vital in self defence.
easy maintainability.
becomes much lesser vulnerable to accidental fire after loading, like pistol is very diaisy when cocked.
does not leave empty cseses at gunfire site, leaving no trail of you.
speedloaders can overcome loading issues.:-D

I vote for revolver for self defence in common situations. Pistols for missions.
