contradicting two statements

another contradicting statement.

I thought one can get three different linceses at any point of time . And earlier one could have five different linceses . I have my self seen a police constable who had 5 licenses 3 were P Bore and 2 were NP Bore , and all were All India

Three Licenses = Nine firearms ?
Five Licenses = Fifteen firearms ?
I wish it was correct , certainly a dream come true !!
With due regards, that police constable needs some sound legal advice .

Rp.
P.S I am strictly talking about
NPB license. The license for Prohibited Bore is altogether a different affair.

Rp,
Check this
thread
Guns permitted for use by civilians are Shotguns, Handguns and sporting rifles.
Civilians can hold a maximum of THREE arms licenses. There is no limitation as to what combination of 3 can be held, so in theory a person may very well use his three permitted arms licenses to hold: -
1 handgun + 1 shotgun + 1 rifle (which is what most people do, but there is no legal necessity to adhere to this particular combination)
OR 3 handguns
OR 2 handguns + 1 rifle
OR 2 handguns + 1 shotgun
OR 3 rifles
OR 2 rifles + 1 handgun
OR 2 rifles + 1 shotgun
OR 3 shotguns
OR 2 shotguns + 1 handgun
OR 2 shotguns + 1 rifle
BASICALLY any combination of THREE you so desire - this is of course theoretical, you would still need to convince the licensing authority of your stated NEED for each additional arms license you apply for!
For members of accredited/ recognised rifle associations/ shooting clubs, in addition to the (above mentioned) max permissible limit of 3 arms licenses, they are permitted to own 1 additional .22 cal rifle for the purpose of target shooting - thereby taking their total allowance of arms licenses to FOUR.
Competition shooters who have achieved the status of "renowned shot" are exempted from the above provisions, details of the relevant notifications pertaining to them (i.e. "renowned shots") can be found at
http://www.nrai.in/notifications.html for further details.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Sure m24 , I think it is a communication gap from my side . What I meant was that on one license book one can get endorsed and keep 3 NPB firearms . The thread you are quoting means the same thing, however it has been mentioned in a different way i.e. each permission to buy and endorsement thereafter has been considered as a separate license for that particular firearm.
So where as I was treating one license book with three endorsements on it as a single license, the thread means three licenses for each NPB firearm endorsed and owned entered on the same book bearing the genuine identity of the license holder.

I have a licence for sbbl which has initially had TN validity which later was converted to All India Validity . i belong to gujarat. how can i get a pistol/revolver? will the said pistol/revolver automatically have all India validity or will i have to again go through the entire procedure of getting a state validity and then all india validity? in other words, the all India validity is specific for the weapon or does it hold good for any additional weapon u buy? Kindly enlighten me on the subject.

As u have written that ur licence is valid for all india of sbbl gun.according to the rules a law abiding citizen can have a one licence, and in which three np bore weapons can be entered on the same licence, but some states gave the permission one by one and some states endorsed all three at the same time.it differs according to the state law.so u just go through ur local la having valid arm licence purchase period extended, then u pay ur addition fee for ur addition.and u don,t need to go again for the all india process as ur licence is having AIV.

Thank you darashp , you have resolved a dilemma i was going through. getting AIV is a major pain, though well worth the effort. good to know that once additional weapons automatically get AIV status. Thank you Sir.
