The only thing I hate is the barrel length but that's again a personal preference. A 4 inch barrel would make this gun an absolute Adonis among all in the .32 caliber.

Hi Rottlord, My preference too calls for a 4" or 6" Barrel (the Bigger the Better) though the problem here is of availability and not preference, hence will have to settle down for this one, the other fact is i loved it at First Sight.by RottLord » Fri Aug 14, 2009 5:30 pm

Hi Shariq, I am fine, hope the same is with you. No, i have not yet purchased it, the person is not in Mumbai, i have planned to meet him on 20th, shall keep you guys posted about the deal. Meanwhile, i have checked with some of the dealers in Mumbai for .22 S&W, their is one dealer in particular, India Arms near crawford market Mumbai. The guy claims he can get you more or less anything. He even told me that he can supply a 2007 manufactured S&W but it would be at a EXXXXXXOOOOOOHBERENT priceby shariq » Fri Aug 14, 2009 9:58 pm

there is one more way to procure brand new weapon.
the foreign counsulates or their staff who come in india are allowed to bring in weapons and these weapons are sold by these people to dealers,
one particular dealer from pune who specialises in manufacturing pellets is also into these.
i just happened to be at the right place at this dealers shop 2 yrs back when a deal was going on and the price for a german made pistol was quoted as around 4 -5 lakhs.
the so called gun is deposited by the counsulate staff for sale and somehow this guy is given preference first to buy the pistol.
i do not know how these deals occur or what procedure is followed but a brand new gun is promised , so much was the dealer bragging that he said the air in the box would be also from Germany to tell that it would be a box packed piece.

I agree with you doctor.. I have been to the same dealer recently who promises to provide a brand new S&W @ 4-5 L which
he procures from the consulate officials. There is 18 months (not very sure) locking period so the stuff is min 18 months old.
I think the sportsman can import the weapons and can sell after 5 years. Somebody pl brief.
Anybody knows the reason why the (officail n leagal) import of arms banned in 1986-87?

Hi Doctor & Surgeon,
The dealer mentioned by me starts the prices for new Arms from 12 -15 lacs, for me it sounds crazy. Though by your posts i understand that custom officials or the ones place at higher authorities can import the Arms? Correct me, if i have miss understood your statements.

To answer your question, they cannot import firearms. What he is talking about is the arms seized by customs officials that are auctioned. There is some more info on this on the forums. Please use the search function.Thanks.ravi.sharma wrote:Hi Doctor & Surgeon,

Re: Help to identify the genuineness of S&W .32 revolver (Pics)
I agree to you guys as i have seen a pistol not a brand new but around a year old (for 12 L) with a dealer in delhi, which has procured it from a foreign consulate official, (dealer told that officials can bring it back to india when they are transfered from one country to another but they cannot import it) and they are sold for anything above 12 lacs. So, getting a brand new box packed S&W for 4L is a bit doubtful for me. And for the price you are being for this s&w i have seen rubies being bought for that price which are more or less trash.
So best of luck for the deal and go ahead without even having a single doubt.
Regards
Bhupi

Hi All,
Time to update you guys on the development.
Today, Atlast my dream came true. I met the guy and was to purchase the S&W. The guy came along with me to apply for the Sale Permission. In the D.C office, we were told to file the Application and Effidavit for Sale Application. The Seller submitted the Application with Effidavit mentioning my Licence number. Now i thought this is the time i would get my Revolver, the most Happiest Moment For Me.
But the BABU'S thought otherwise
after submitting the application, they informed us to submit it in the Inward section, the application will get a number and will come to the Babu in 2- 3 days, then will be forwarded for police verification the entire process shall take 30 -45 days MINIMUM. I couldnt believe my dream shattering in front of my eyes.
Pleaded these guys a lot but as ususal of NO USE. Finally I surrended and will have to wait for the stipulated period to get my hands on my dream revolver.
I have paid the guy small Token, the final amount i shall let you guys know once the Deal is cracked (I hope it will).
I still cant believe this happend to me.
Your's Deppressed Friend.

There is no need to get depressed,45 days is the mandatory notice period all across India...consider your self lucky if you are getting the S & W at the price you mentioned....

So the seller hadn't applied for the permission to sell the firearm in question ? Well well , so he doesn't know the procedure either !!

Dealers normally manage this in a day or two but with election around the corner there may be significant delays. 45 days is just too long.
