Diskaon,

Now that I know what kinda gun you own , here is a clip especially for you because you can NEVER conceal carry like it . :) :)

By the way two fingers together mean something very different in medical examination.

Good luck with your purchase, and enjoy this clip...............

In my opinion, for the gents carrying revolvers with upto 2 - 3" barrels, a quick draw waist holster made from 'Cordura' should be sufficient. I too have one... and am quite satisfied with it.

Compared to a pistol, in a revolver there is no real danger of blowing out your B@&&s or A## through accidental trigger press while drawing.

As far as carrying with the shirt tucked in is concerned, it is fairly concealable and usually goes unnoticed, except that you have to unbutton the shirt once to draw the revolver. The 'inside the waist' holster is useful here.

My two cents... :)

To me, nothing beats a flat side arm like a pistol in concealment department. All one needs is a simple nylon holster like the one made by Uncle Mike (inside the waist type with a metal clasp) and one can tuck it either in front left, SOB or cross draw. I have owned and tried all kinds and eventually found this one most convenient. I use the rest when ever I am in a "SHOW OFF" mode. 8)

I have always preferred leather holsters to kydex ones but this one looks nice. Recently saw the holsters made by blackhawk. Was really impressed.

hi diskaon,
nice user name.
how to carry a wpn is directly related to the question why r u carrying that- i.e. as a deterrent, as a concealed wpn or as a counter threat measure in some dangerous area. with my experiences with real encounters and shootouts, i must tell you that revolvers are easier to carry and their use is much faster than pistols in the event of a surprise attack, however in the event of planned/suspected raid/combat/encounter the pistol is proven to be all time great. as far as i am concerned i have seen that carrying pistol/rev on the side of waist towards your main hand( right hand for most) enables quick action. more often i have seen that the instantaneous fire from the position parallel/near to the waist itself( without taking conventional aim and without lifting the pistol high up) surprises the opponent and kills him before he takes his weapon out : but you have to practice this and this way is just an starter.
ya tuck in problem is there. Few good holsters may solve this to some extent but the weight of the wpn ( i keep the 9 mm pistol) shakes it so badly that its better to tuck the pistol inside the belt/waist line. This is uncomfortable when we sit.
In india during winters, shoulder holsters are also OK but the time to take out the weapon is significantly more.
will get u some photographs soon.
happy shootings

I have gone through all the different ways of holstering a handgun mentioned above. Almost all have been designed keeping gents clothing in view. Which will be best way to carry a handgun for an Indian lady irrespective of the attire? The only one that seems suitable is the ankle holster. But, wont I have to compromise on drawing speed in this case? What will be the best course in case of an emergency?

Cheers,
Nova

I have been using waistband holsters. For my Colt Detective Special, I use a Bianchi

For my CZ50, I use a Galco horsehide:

I prefer a shoulder rig over anything else, with practice its roughly a one and a half second draw. Plus racking the slide if a round is not already chambered. The next best option is a waistband holster that rides on the inside of the trousers. Outside, IMHO, its too prone to getting caught in things. Under CCW conditions in India, considering that wearing a jacket isn't an option in the summers, this inside waistband holster would work best with an untucked shirt/kurta.

If you're wearing pants, any of the holsters that keep the gun at your waist on the inside would work best if the shirt were loose. Ankle holsters aren't very quick to reach, too much movement, as opposed to simply moving your arm. I can't think of a single holster that would be compatible with every single thing Indian women wear (or for that fact any women), but the wost compatible would be a waist set up that mounts with the weapon on the inside

pdn: I think he wanted you to expand on how your views were shaped by your first hand experiences, i.e., talk about the experiences themselves (or at least that's what I'd like to know :) )
