amit,
Glock makes handguns in many calibres but the guns made by them in 40 SW,380 ACP,357 SIG and 45 GAP come under the NPB category and the only way to get them into india is via the TR process.a few of them might be floating around but the owner cant sell the firearm according to the TR rules.im sure the prices quoted for NPB glocks will be insane,if you come across any.

cheers,
Ravi teja :)

Given a choice I would love to own one, a CZ 75 in 9mm Luger with which I have won two competitions in the past in the UAE ( 2007 and 2008 ). I love its stopping power and ballistics over the NP Bore .32 ACP I have in India.

But it is very difficult and not worth the trouble to go in for a PB endorsement, and if achieved then the cost of the Pistol will be an exagerrated Rs. 6 to 8 lakhs at least.

.38 revolvers start from 5000/- ,.45 pistols from 30,000/-.

Through their policy of calibre restrictions the Indian government is missing a HUGE opportunity of disposing of surplus arms in the civilian market. If the restrictions are removed the government can easily offload their outdated SMLE's (in .303, 7.62 and .410)/ old Webleys (in .38-200, .455) etc. and use the money realised to re-equip the police forces with more useful modern firearms. I believe AK's ordered in bulk can be procured for as little as INR 5,000 in the international market, so if the SMLE's get auctioned off for 10,000 they can theoretically get 2 AK's for the money realised from the sale of one SMLE... not that it's likely to happen any time soon

The GOI is disosing off their surplus arms on the international market.
A munber of vendors are selling Ishapore SMLE's in the US that I know about. Havent heard about them in the European market.
Ditto for surplus ammo, which has quite a bad reputation ...

They were also sold in U.K.Besides RFI made 303 No 3 Mk 1's and 7.62 2A and 2A1's the rifles sold from India also included British,Canadian and Australian made No3 Mk1's No4 Mk 1,No4mk1(T)[minus scopes],No5's which the Americans call the Jungle Carbine for some reason and POF made 303 No4Mk1's.I am sure there were other versions however I am not an authority on the Lee Metford/Lee Enfield and the Indian govt. is not that willing to pass on any information.

I had read in a newspaper that the govt. is no longer going to sell these rifles as the task of removing the service marks was too tedious and that in future all such rifles would be melted down. They might have changed their mind now.

I have seen a licensed Thomson Sub-machine gun.The license was issued by the MOH,GOI.

At one time,an SDM could issue a license for a PB firearm. The vegetable vendors license is kosher.
Do u need to apply to SDM, to issue a PB licence ??..

Not any more, as Penpusher says - At one time,an SDM could issue a license for a PB firearm

Now PB license applications go all the way to the Min of Home Affairs, Govt. of India.
