Thanks timmy! - it gun sure feels like a boss - feels like the Beretta 92FS - solid and really well built - quality oozes from every pore! :D I am pretty rared up to go and try it out on the range...and thence the reports. I can guess that the pistol has a long and heavy D/A Pull.

Type of Ammo: Blazer, 9mm Luger, 115 Gr. FMJ - $16 for 50 Rnds
Distance: 5 Yd, 10 Yd
Stance: Upright, two handed
Fire rate: Steady

There is a bit of a story re the ammo; I had originally picked up with the pistol some Ukranian Ammo (LCW, Brass case, Bimetallic Jacket, 124 Gr. - said to be lead core - but even the very tip, reacted to a magnet). The LCW was $14 per 50 Rnds but the tip jumped at a magnet and the indoor range that I am a member of would not allow it. I went back to the store and exchanged the lot. The Blazer that I have now is Alu case and the bullet is non magnetic.

The next thing I realized - how hard it is to load up new magazines, with stiff springs. After banging up my thumb and a few fingers, I went out and picked up an Universal UpLula Mag Loader. What a difference that makes!

The Universal Pistol Loader – UpLula

Finally I was ready to head out to the range. First I set up a target at 5 Yds. The pistol seems to be firing about 3 to 5 inches too low, three flyers in the first round. I was a bit disappointed by the out of the box accuracy of the Girsan.

I continued to keep my POA on the bull on the next target – still shooting too low.

Target No. 2

I then moved the next two targets to 10 Yds and commenced blasting away, tried a faster rate of fire just to get a feel of the new gun.

Target No.4 (I ran out of Targets)

It crossed my mind again that the gun felt good, of solid construction, I could feel the quality, fit and crisp action. The grip was alright, but I guess I would have preferred something slightly slimmer. The double stack magazine does make the grip a little bulkier. The trigger pull felt long in D/A, it improved somewhat in S/A.

Overall, a thrilling experience for a first outing but a mite disappointing result on the score. I must figure out how to get perhaps a taller rear sight – or something.

Vikram - I am once again impressed by your keen faculties of observation. The glass was indeed chilled in my freezer - I like it this way for beer and robust wine!

brihacharan ji Thank you very much - I shall check out the Ishq Darra Turkish Delight that you recommend! :D

Well said, what a shame! :agree: +1 xl_target It is encouraging that companies like Tata Power and Bharat Forge have developed artillery guns - maybe there is still some hope!

India's plan to encourage the development of arms and ammunition for the defence forces has encouraged the private sector with domestic defence production companies including Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Bharat Forge and Tata Power SED entering the fray to locally develop the Indian prototype of the 155mm Bofors artillery gun system.
TC Actually, I did consider the Norinco 1911 for about two beats, the shop had one which had all the Chinese markings though! Thank you for the toast!

CK That's not bad for the first time with a new gun.
Check your email.
Before you change the sights or anything, let a few other people shoot it first..... see where it shoots for them

Thank you zaheer.bakshi, xl_target and herb for your congratulations! :D

That's a good idea xl_target- I shall have a couple of the range officers shoot it and see if their results are any different.

I did blow up a 100 rounds on that day!

Kalyan Da,

I didn't say it earlier but when I saw pics of the pistol in your grip it appeared a little chubby for your hands. On the very first day managing the hold while firing may have been difficult but you will get used to it.

The groups look nice but somehow it seemed you didn't give too much time between the shots. Am I correct ?

The Girsan will grow on you in no time. Try some dry firing in actual shooting stance.

Just a suggestion

TC

PS: Good that you junked the Chinese 1911. May God keep a few things American..... always :D

Many thanks brihacharan-Ji and TC - I appreciate your suggestions, and will try them out! It is true that even now, around firearms, I get excited and am like a kid in a sand box. So, yes I did try rapid fire after 3 mags (with a huge grin on my face  )

The past few days I have been analyzing, rehashing the range scenario in my mind; noting what could be improved and practising, controls, field stripping, grip, stance, breathing, natural POA, dry firing, open eyes, D/A etc. I am sure I can work with this new gun, in time, with patience, fortitude and practice. Thanks again. :D

Wow!! CK at least you are on the target.Keep in mind you need lot'a of rounds to fire to become good shooter.

Other thing, com'n over with lot's rounds and spend some with me.I'll make sure when you fire your gun again all the rounds should be in ten rings.

In the mean time shoot safe.

Thanks TC - and I realize now, after looking at my own images - what you meant by 'a little chubby for your hands'!

Thank you very much Baljit for your kind offer and invitation; I sure will take it up soon, to come over and hit the 10 rings. I must say that I am a bit worried about the 'lotsa rounds' - that you mention! I think - I'll have to wait till I gather up about 1,000 at least, to meet your modest estimation?? ROTFL

Thanks again for your invite Baljit :D - see you soon in Kelowna!
