Edmond

Welcome aboard and also do list their respective guns and also label them e.g. 5.45 is it the right most one?

Some interesting read on Russian pistol PSM which uses 5.45 x 18mm

Hi!
The 5.45 18 is the most right.

4.6x30 is Heckler and Koch (prototype, now used in MP 7)
5.7x28 is for FN P 90 and FN Five Seven
5.45x39 for AK 74

Despite of what has been stated by some of our more knowledgeable members on this thread, case dimensions of the .25 ACP and 5.45x18 are NOT the same. The .25 ACP is semi-rimless, with .276" case and .301" rim; the 5.45mm is rimless with .300" for both case and rim. So, if you did manage to chamber and fire a .25 ACP in the 5.45mm, expect some spectacular, and painful, results. If you really want to do a blow-up test of the PM pistol, don't do it while holding the gun in your hand. Cheers.

two rivers, sir i am afraid i could not make myself clear very well, i never said that two cartridges are interchangeable or 25 ACP can be fired in PSM. what i said was that a new 25 ACP barrel was installed on that specific gun and as i am not in contact with that person now, i cannot confirm whether a new extractor was fabricated or not. i never intended to advise that 25 ACP can be fired from original barrel. i hope that it will clear any misunderstanding if there was any.
regards.
P.S. although i am thinking of starting a new thread, but i have a S&W Victory Model in 38/200 but its cylinder is reamed out in UK in early sixties to chamber 38 special, what do you suggest about it.
thanks & regards

That's a different story. That conversion should work fine, including the extractor as is, since most blow-backs work fine without extractor. I'd expect possible feeding problems from the magazine due to the shorter cartridge. As to the .380 S&W Victory revolver, I'd use the .380/200 cartridge it was originally chambered for, as the .38 Special is a longer, but smaller diameter case, and conceivable can split when fired in the .380/200 chamber. And that's were things can get nasty in a hurry. I would defintely avoid any .38 Special +P loads in this gun. Hope that helps. cheers.

Thanks two rivers, regarding that PSM, we did not face any feeding problem, one thing i noticed about Makarov & Psm is that they have very straight feeding angle from magazine to barrel so they are more reliable as there are fewer chances of hangup in feed ramp

PSM are really reliable, one of the reasons is the one you cited. This conversion should be fairly easy.
