Walther PPK 7.62cal./.32

Hi all,

Pl pardon my ignorance/insolence. But why would any person offer to pay in lakhs(buy/sell) for a walther ppk when the same is available at www.waltheramerica.com for usd555=INR 25000/- and presuming that one has the .32 licence in india. he could actually fly to US with the only intention of buying it and returning back and yet would spend just about a lakh or less.

That's because, what you mention is contrary to the law! Import of firearms into India is SEVERELY RESTRICTED - for more please see the Import of arms & ammo thread under the legal section...

Hi,
You sound so sweet and innocent.(No pun intended).
If it was so, then it would not have been 12 lacs but at the most 1.2 lacs.
The fact is that import of firearms by civilians.for personal use is banned since almost quarter of a century. Thus the ones available command a hefty premium.
Rest, less said the better about our laws, policies etc.
Hand guns manufactured by IOF in NP bore sell at about 65-75K.

Do not buy a .32 pistol, you'll only find pre 84 pistols which are probably not reliable. Get a revolver, far far far more reliable. The smiths are very safe with the hammer over the loaded chamber and the revolvers are a whole lot cheaper too. Plus they look cool, a 2" snubbie or a 3".... man if only I could get a second license(which I'm going to apply for very soon).
