.30 Super designation was probably used to avoid any association with the .32 ACP

I see this as a positive development. The research into bullet technology has paid dividends and the 30 Super continues the trend. This would allow the compact "carry" pistols in the 9mm class to have increased magazine capacity and lower recoil, important in small weapons that aren't as easily controlled. This is on par with the 32 Federal Magnum, which allows small revolvers that previously held five 38 Spl. rounds to now have six, with no penalty in power.

I like 30/32 caliber cartridges, especially now that effective bullets are available in that bore size.
