Hi Rajesh,
It would be nice if you introduce yourself first in the introduction section. Then you could tell us a little more on who did the engraving.

The .320 Revolver calibre is an obsolete black powder cartridge initially produced for the Webley Bulldog .......
The Webley Pocket Hammerless revolver was certainly chambered for the .320 Revolver .... but also the .32 Long Colt, .32 Short Colt and .32 S&W. The .32 Short Colt was based on the .320 Revolver and will chamber in some Webleys but if the revolver has a .320 Revolver proof you`re asking for trouble by doing so. As such, and in the Indian context, I would imagine the revolver is worth pretty well nothing.

Hi TC,
I am a businessman from Kolkata, and got this Webley inheritated. Originally bought by my grandfather in 1960's n since then the weapon is with the family. Webley manufactured this weapon in 1900's n it the first few ones to come to India at this period. It fires .32long and short both. You are right about the engraving as it was not factory made.
Rajesh

I am also from the same city. Having spent some time in the company of guns it was not difficult to figure out the engraving part..

Is the gun chambered for the .320 Revolver or the .32 Colt Long ? If it`s actually chambered for the .320 and you`re using .32 Long Colt ammo in it you run the distinct risk of losing your hand !
The Webley Pocket Hammerless Revolver was produced 1901 - 1936. The serial number of yours dates it to c.1920.

Grumpy,
The owner has been firing .32 S&W long in it and so far it has not blown up....which proves beyond a doubt that it is safe to fire .32 S&W long in it even though the revolver is not chambered for it
Captain Hook in the making? Might get another photo to add to my 'blown up guns' collection.

Re: Webley & Scott Hammerless Revolver 320
The WS opens as in drop down, and below the chamber or below the barrel the proof markings will indicate what ammunition can be fired. The engraving is definitely local as is the butt I suspect. If its black powder then it is pretty much worthless.
I have used the W&S hammerless long barreled .38 as a young officer. Ala British officer going over the trenches in WW1! Due to its double action, it was very difficult for accurate fire. As opposed to a Smith & Wesson single action with which one could hit a playing card at 10m.
