A fun 1911 (Pics)

Post by herb » Sun Apr 20, 2014 12:08 am

Sharing some pictures of my 1911 in .22LR. A much nicer gun to shoot all day at the range compared to the 1911 in .45.

I guess it would shoot much better than some of those 1911 .22 conversion kits

That is my thinking too. I don't own a coversion kit but from what I have read, a dedicated 1911 .22 is supposed to be more accurate than a conversion kit on 45 platform.

That is my gun.. thats the gun I am going to get if ever imports open.

I think it make sense as a self defense weapon too. I am sure no baddie going to walk away with 12 twenty two's in his body

Awesome piece there Herb. I've been eyeballing the sig 1911-22 and waiting for the right price drop.

Saint: the Sig is the same gun as the GSG 1911 and manufactured in the same factory, nice guns.

Very nice gun you have there herb, I do have a GSG 1911 and XL have Sig 1911 in .22LR. Never had any problem with it.
It's lot' fun and you can shoot all day in the range, and I agree with you on this.

Nice little .22, Herb.
Run us a range report when you get a chance, please.
btw, Minimags and Federal bulk run the best in mine.

Herb,
I've shot the Colt 1911-22 (not the gold cup version but the standard version).
I believe they are made by Umarex for Walther who in turn licensed the Colt name.
Shooting it didn't seem to be a significantly different experience than shooting my SIG 1911-22.
The magazine does hold 12 compared to 10 in the GSG/SIG pistol.
Just wondering what impressions you have of it at the range?

Umarex have owned the Carl Walther brand name since 1993 and they have licencing agreements to produce firearms - mostly .22 lrs - under the brand names of Colt, H&K and IWI ( Uzi.) Carl Walther bought Hammerli in 2006 and they have licenced the name to their parent company ( Umarex. ) There must be a good reason for such complication ........... Umarex also have licencing agreements with several companies to produce air guns under their names.
