technical:

I will make this one more reply and then drop this thread -- I'm really not sure where this leaves us and I am beginning to doubt the efficacy of my posts on this matter.

I am having a problem squaring this statement:
you really cannot compare the trigger pulls of different pistols
with this one:
i know trigger pulls can be compared , i was merely saying that a mag safety may not be the only reason for a heavier trigger pull( though my choice of words were questionable)
I don't see any reason in the second that explains saying the first one.

You try to explain your words by saying:
i was merely saying that a mag safety may not be the only reason for a heavier trigger pull
I can't see anywhere in your statements where the above thought is presented. Rather, you said:
what i was trying to say was that the trigger pull seemed to be lighter after removing the mag disconnect feature
which seems to be contradictory with your statement that the magazine may not be the only reason for a heavy trigger.

In the case of the HiPower, which was mentioned by the OP, the magazine safety is the problem. As I explained, the plunger in the trigger rubs the magazine, causing added friction.

Because the OP is known to be partial to the Ashani, and because you made this statement:
it is a fact that mag safety guns have a heavier trigger pull
I brought up the Colt Pocket Pistols, which contributed some to the design of the Ashani and, being produced in large numbers, significantly refute your statement that magazine safeties cause inordinately stiff triggers.

Regarding terms used for parts, may I suggest that a google search for almost any handgun will turn up a parts diagram, where you can find the correct name for even the most minute parts.

It may be helpful for you to remember that, when you want to tell someone something, you first need to know what you are talking about, and second you need to communicate your information in a way others can understand. Without understanding these two things and putting both into practice, you cannot transfer information to someone else. If you are trying to tell me about your neighbor's dog and tell me it's a German Shepherd, and it is really a Chihuahua, for instance, you will not have conveyed anything useful to me about your neighbor's dog.

Farook,
This is a private forum where certain rules are followed. One of these being : Stick to the topic of the thread, which in this case happens to be Magazine Disconnect Safety and not my guns.

Since you have already strayed from the topic let me take up the pain and explain that "surrendering" of firearm means giving up the rights to a firearm altogether or surrendering it to the court or the police following a specific executive order. In my case, as in the case of millions of others in India, I have only "deposited" my firearms with registered gun dealers (not police station) for safe custody for 60 days. If I wish I can go and take them back right now and deposit them again tomorrow.
Since its apparent that you do not know who I am and what I do (something most of the senior members here do) let me tell you that I keep extremely busy during elections and for me it is best to keep the firearms with a dealer while I am away from home. I have gone through this process during every election and, for decades now.

Now if you care to return to the topic, go through Timmy's posts and you will get all your answers. He is a very senior person and knows guns, and what goes inside them, more than most people here. Like Timmy, I too would like to leave this thread now.

TC
