I've seen a few Walther PPK (S & L) in Kanpur and Delhi for between 15 and 18 lacs. I've heard that with the clampdown on licenses, the wait at the IOF factory is down by a few months, which as affected the pricing of the Ashani. You should be able to get one between 1.25 and 1.5 lacs.

Thanks for the reply Karndarp. Any idea what the wait period of Asani now. Any feedback on the performance. Heard it needs a major after market job to get it going.

Not sure what the wait its now, but it should be substantially less than the 12-18 months earlier. Some dealers in Kanpur mentioned 3 - 5 months, but I haven't confirmed this independently.

I think the after market jobs that I've seen are more cosmetic in nature. I fired a few Ashanis there and was neutral about their performance. One thing I will say, I fired a full mag of IOF rounds and it didn't jam. My Mauser HSc chokes on IOF ammo, I probably get 2 - 3 jams per mag when using IOF ammo. (The Mauser cycles and fires perfectly on S&B, but that's at Rs. 650 a pop!!!)

Don't think I can go through the horror of waiting and the whole process again.
