dear frenz
i m a new member outta here and do not know much about owning a pistol.i am really crazy about weapons and i want to buy one.i live in delhi .
can any 1 help me and tell me how can i get the licence for this?wt r the varities of guns available in the market?their cost and everything.do reply as u all r experienced.

Since u talk of a license, i assume u would want a firearm and not an air gun / pistol ?? Do make up you mind first about what u like...

Jatin - for information on how to acquire an arms license, please see the relevant posts under the "Arms law" section.

For recommendations on which gun to buy - take it one step at a time. First fix a budget for yourself, the IOFB (Indian made) revolver costs around INR 65-67,000/- (tax paid, if bought direct from the factory), Imported ones can cost anything upwards of INR 1 Lakh (depending on make/ condition/ location where you are buying) - for imported handguns the sky is really the limit in terms of price, this being a complete sellers market! Do keep in mind that imports have been banned since 1984, so any imported gun being sold is AT LEAST 23 YEARS OLD!

Once you have your arms license and based on your budget you can begin your search for a good firearm.

This is for all new members - Many of the questions swimming in your head have been asked here before and answers posted. PLEASE DO take the time to go through previous posts and you will find relevant information there. The site is divided into several sections based on subject, which should make this task simpler AND there is also a search function which allows you to search within each section easily.

Answering the same questions again and again (here) adds no value and is also boring for everyone.... hence you may not find too many people posting answers to such questions. Everyone is expected to at the VERY LEAST make an EFFORT to first try and help themselves (using the store of information already available here).

I do not intend to offend anyone through this post, in stead fully well realising that for many here this may be the first online forum that they are participating in, I thought it may be relevant to explain the typical online etiquette... Hope it is taken in the intended spirit.
