Dear Mentor,

These weapons came the illegal way in india and some dealers got there papers ready. Before you buy this weapon please check the full history including first owner.

Probably you are referring to this news item http://www.tribuneindia.com/2012/20121202/main6.htm Police and journalists sometimes blow or twist the facts to sensationalize the matters. The truth will probably come out in court in due course of time.

Yes one should properly check the legal paperwork before buying any gun. So long the sale and purchase is done by following the due procedure laid down in Arms Act 1959 and its Rules, the buyer cannot be penalized.

Dear Mentor,

The news you provided came on 02 December 2012. I came to know about Beretta Tomcat about 2 months ago. One of my friend had .30 chinese for which he paid 7 lacs to dealer. One of the arms dealer in punjab got arrested for providing illegal to arms licence holders and his weapon was taken into custody but no action was taken against him. Now the problem is dealer given him the bill for Rs. 22000/- and actually he paid 7 lacs. When he requested the police to get his money refunded from dealer, police said they can only help him in getting money which is on the bill. Even if my friend goes to court he cannot get more than 22000 back. This is one of the reason I was warning everyone to be careful as beretta Tomcat also came from illegal way. The other way is if someone is buying Beretta Tomcat please get the bill for the full amount. In that case licence holder is safe.
