DOM,

I typed out a reply but it seems to have disappeared into cyber space. In India, you can own any handgun on a normal license as long as it is not in a service calibre i.e. .455,.45 ACP,9mm Luger and .38 S&W.Since .32 ACP and .32 S&W Long are the easiest to get ammo for, they are the most common.

You can own any shotgun on a normal license as long as it is not in .410, has a barrel that is 20" or longer and is not a semi auto or auto.

You can own any rifle on a normal license as long as it is not in 303 or 7.62 and is not an auto or semi-auto.

7.62x63 is .30-06 which is NPB. What Winnie meant by 7.62 was most probably 7.62x51 NATO which is PB.
