Employer's NOC for licence

Post by bharathegde » Tue Feb 28, 2012 4:30 pm

I had filed an RTI application to the Home Department in Karnataka to know whether employer's NOC is a must before one applies for the licence. The reply has said that NOC is not complusory. Thus, I wish to inform all those who want to apply for the licence that they need not undergo the trauma of seeking NOCs from narrow-minded employers!!

Normally N O C is not required.
But for a government employee the licensing authority can refer your department before considering your application.

RTI was needless in this matter. Careful reading of Arms Act 1959 clarifies everything. Section 13(3)(a)(i) and (ii) of Arms Act is very clear when it makes it mandatory for licensing authority to issue license for smooth bore gun for self protection or sport and .22 rifle for sport, provided the applicant is not disqualified under Section 14.
