Using 20 guage and .22 rounds in a 12 bore shotgun

Ive read around that the 12 guage can accommodate "inserts / Adapters" to fire .22 or 20 guage rounds.
Are these available in India and is it legal to use it.
Has anyone here used it?
Any input will be appreciated.
Thank you.

Sniper, There in deed are sub-gauge tubes that can be inserted into a 12 bore gun.You can shoot 20,28,.410.
Check these links.

The same with rifles.
Re legal aspect, Monsieur SSS can enlighten us.

Strictly speaking an sub-caliber adapter will be regarded as a separate firearm...after all you'll need a .22 license to purchase .22 shots legally
It would be an interesting mental exercise trying to explain how you have .22 shots in absence of a license... in a country where mere possession of a single unlicensed firearm bullet can get you into a lot of trouble.
Yes .410 is PB- at least the Arms Act is clear on this...

Well snIPer...I probably missed a notification or two... I was just quoting the Arms Act...
Here it is word for word:
Section 1(c)
"Bolt action or semi-automatic rifles of .303" or 7.62mm bore or any other bore which can chamber and fire service ammunition of .303" or 7.62mm, calibre; muskets, of .410 bore or any other bore which can fire .410"musket ammunition; pistols, revolvers or cartridges of any bore which can fire .380" or .455" rimmed cartridges or service 9mm, or .45" rimless cartridges"
Note that the use of the word musket does not necessarily apply to muzzle loaders- They have those old 303's re-barreled and and converted to single shot in the hands of the police. They still make their grand appearance every once in a while. Ammunition stocks are still plentiful but old.
regards,
cc

Grey area i think, the 410.
Govt/police 410 'musket' is a single lead ball loaded on a ? 303 'blown up' brass
410 for the rest of the world. is a SHOTGUN cartridge. So how come 410 as per govt de.scription embraces anything in 410? Both -the Govt 410 musket ammo and civvy 410 are not interchangeable -To the best of my memory...
go figure!!

I think it would be better referred to as the 64 bore instead of 410 shotgun.
