I had seen REMINTON model 10 pump action gun in very good condiction , 30 inche chocked barrel ,5 plus 1 magazine capacity , the empty is ejected from bottom from the same area where magazine is loaded, really interested but not getting any information from internet , this is a old model and was stopped after world war one reason being high cost of production compare to popular winchester model 12. IN -case anybody has any information about this product or used this product ,there advice / openion is requested. cheers James.....

About the only thing I know of them is that some were chambered in 2 9/16 shells, these guns are dangerous to fire with 2 3/4" shells, so verify the chamber.
Other than that, they are a somewhat complicated gun but if you have one in good condition you may as well use it!

Hi James,
Been out of the forums for a while...bit caught up with backlog at work.... Nice to be back here guys!
Anyway, the Remington Modle10 is decent though somewhat a fiddly piece of hardware because of its dual function bottom port. One added dividend is that the single bottom port keeps a lot of field muck out of the action- Not something of much use though, if you're not into the field thing
- A minus point is breech inspection is awkward.
Here's a scan from my copy of NRA Firearms Assembly Vol-3... hope copyright is not infringed here. If so, Mods may kindly pull it off the board.

Wouldn't touch it unless I wanted to hang it on the wall, mainly. There are several parts and camming surfaces that are prone to wear and breakage, the ejector being on. There was a good reason why it didn't last long on the market, and price wasn't necessarily it. Manufacturing quality was good, but it's too intricate and involved in design. If it functions alright, you only want it for protection, and the price is right, buy it. But if you plan to use it a lot, don't. It has been called a monstrosity and a nightmare in gunsmithing books, and I would have to agree with those sentiments. I only ever worked on one, may the gods be thanked that they are not plentyful! Cheers.

I had seen another model 10 reminton with 20 inche barrel with my uncle friend ,his father imported this in 1940 , this man had installed a full screw on reminton choke to the gun and full bluing is done ,this is done under professional supervision and it looks as new , I fired 40 imported cartriger compak 7 number and pump action is really smooth and excellent patttern is seen from full choke .This old chap had hardly shot any cartrigers as of now , he is asking for 2.4l .What you guys think......{magazine is 5 plus one} cheers ,James.......

James, the model-10 by Remington was introduced in the year 1907 and the company discontinued the model in 1929 it is a slide action hammerless takedown model with 6 shots capacity of the tube magazine beneath the barrel with full modified cylinder choke and as you said the loading & unloading of the ammo is from the bottom just in front of the trigger. A similar model known as MOD-17 was introduced later in the year 1921 by Remington.

For that kind of budget you should be able to get a O/U in good nick or an excellent English hammerless SxS!! I prefer doubles to pumps and if I were you that's what I would do...
Cheers!

It is quite evident from most of your posts that you are paranoid about your security,
are you on somebody's hit list
If 2.4 dont pinch just go for it,though personally after reading the views of some of the people most wouldnt.,
but dont let that discourage you

Good joke Sanjay, some days back i was in US and went to a gun shop in vegas ,buying a gun is simple in US and within 2 to 3 hours all the formalities are taken care off. The owner being friendly guy ,just start asking me about Indian guns / arms law , he was surprised to know the tedious process for getting licence in India. HE prominently asked me ,if a intuuder is in farmhouse ,how this middleaged lady is going to protect herself ,you told me you live in democratic country where only bad guys have 9mm and average common citizen is on there luck of being spared . Sanjay I Belive in one principal that IF you are prepared for the worst ,worst will never happen. Knowing and collecting self defence tactical items legally is my hobby and i enjoy it .

if your heart is set on it,just go for it.From what folks who know about it say if it is going to be sparingly used ie self defense and hopefully that situation should never arise,it should do just fine.
Do try IOF ammo too before signing the cheque

James: There is no parts commonality between the Remington models 870 and 10. A stock made for the Model 870 will not fit the Model 10. Not that a good machine shop couldn't make an adapter; if you are willing to spend enough you can make most anything fit. Don't expect to find anything on the market that is made for the Model 10. Cheers.
