Blackpowder, what is the intended use you have in mind? If you intend to use this for competitions, then NONE of the Indian made shotguns would do...
On the other hand if you just want it for general shooting/ self defence then do keep in mind the fact the O/U shotguns are generally heavier than SxS shotguns and it can be a real pain to be lugging around a heavy gun all day...
Also, I very much doubt if any of the Indian made (double) shotguns can sustain more than a few thousand rounds through them, without requiring repairs... I believe the IOF made SxS shotgun is an exception to this, and built to a much higher standard. Though I've seen one of those fail after just a few hundred rounds as well (it's owned by an uncle) - it's internal springs broke and had to be replaced by a 'smith. The only ammo ever used in it was standard the 30 gram/65mm KF "Special" made by IOF. But it's been working fine ever since, so I wonder if the springs got fatigued due to the gun being stored "cocked" for a long duration of time...
Indian made hammered singles are much more robust IMHO and many of them can take sustained use/ abuse without a hiccup - thus representing a real bargain opportunity for those who wish to buy a reliable shotgun at a really cheap price. But then making a single barrel hammer shotgun is much much easier...
If you could give an indication of your budget and intended use, people may be able to advise you better.
Cheers!

i do happen to have a mehar singh o/u, ventilated rib, ejectors and all. you'll find it's pics in one of the old shotgun wanted posts.
haven't put a lot of shells through it. truthfully since i needed it to cover my license. reasonable quality, so far.

I feel one can judge a weapon only after firing from it, just recently I tried Mehar Singh ,Bharat and others of my friends to fire old amno dating back to my grandfather times it was 75-80 years old all these along with some russian gun failed to fire it.Only 2003 model of my eagal gun fired without any miss at the target fixed at 60 meters but pellets went far ahead and I marked the target most of shots went more than 120 meters.
