Gentlemen, I continue my research into Reilly. Diggory Hadoke has published part of it in this on-line magazine here: The date chart has yet to be published.

I stumbled upon this video of a Shikari discussing his EM Reilly - it apparently is quite a famous gun:
From the video it appears the SN would be 20498 dating to early 1877. His comments on the Urdu inscription on the escutcheon must be interesting. I'd appreciate a translation. Thanks.

Could someone just listen to the post and provide the gist of the history of the gun? Much appreciate it.

He has briefly talked about the gun, its 32 inch barrel, its a purchase of 1870 by the guys grandfather. He talks about how beautiful the gun is and explains its working. Nothing more, i hope that helps

Many thanks...the gun was numbered in 1877....so who was his grandfather??!!! The grandfather wasn't just a Shikari. And "grandfather" bought it in the 1870's?" That would be a stretch for any generational lineage - grandfather to grandson stretching over 150 years. Curiouser and Curiouser. Again thanks for the help.
