Hey friends
I have been hearing that PAGs are not so reliable.
The IOF PAG was a total failure.
According to some they show cases of malfunctioning of ejector (usually in Indian Cartridges)
Do give ur comments.

I do not know what make and model of pump gun you are talking about, but if I were to have only 1 shotgun I'd choose a pump, my preference would be a Remington 870 or a Mossberg 500, but there are many other fine pump guns too.
There are winchester Model 12's over 100 years old that are still shooting regularly, though I imagine they've had a rebuild or 2.
If I had to walk across India carrying a shotgun, I'd choose an 870 or 500 with no hesitation over anything else.
Also, not to sound picky as I don't mean it to be but think you'd like to know, but it is technically called an extractor. The ejector on this gun is a little block that kicks the shell out, not the hook that pulls the spent shell out of the chamber.
Now on a break open shotgun, my understanding is it is called an ejector if it pops the shells clear of the gun, and an extractor if it just pulls them out enough for you to grab them with your fingers. (If I'm wrong I'm sure Grumpy will educate me!)

I once had a chance (couple of years ago) to handle IOF pump action of my cousin. It looked little beat up but he seemed satisfied with it. Don't know much about its quality since i didn't know much about guns at that time and it was just cool to handle it at that time. As fas as Mossberg and Remington are concerned , they are no doubt among the best.

Mark would u please like to tell me why Winchester 1300 is not that popular as compared to mossy or remington nor that much accessories available for winchester. when i bought my slide action i checked winchester & mossberg 500 & maverick . Maverick is economy line of mossberg. i found winchester more sleek, very smooth action although both got lawyer proof trigger. Mossberg had better safety location but i preferd winchester. later i found that it do not have a strong following. although i did not encounter anything bad.
thanks in advance
regards

The problem could be more with the KF ammo.
Good foreign Pumps also fail regularly when used with KF ammo.
The KF rim is less pronounced than most foreign 12GA shots. It provides a poor gripping area for the extractor. More often, the gradual rounded rim of KF shots cause the extractor to simply slip off.
I don't know with current batches of KF ammo.

No Idea... haven't, of late, got the opportunity or time to do a comparison.
I'm sure folks here can do a comparison. It's a simple visual check.

Meghna???
Well Astram magna is relly a very good & powerfull ammo.It is the only choice for me when i am shooting with Indian ammo.
A friend of mine is having a pump action (Ithaca) shot hundreds of Astram from it.The only problem comes in pump action with Iof ammo is ejection during the monsoon season as the paper Wad shell gets swollen after fire and gets stucked.
Astram works very well in pumpaction , even in semi autos also.

Well I know it is still available ,,It is not MEGHNA , actually it is MAGNA. 2 types of ammo are available - Astram & Astram magna,
Astram comes in green nylon wad with crimped end , and Astram Magna comes in Orange Shell with plastic dot(tikli) at the end.
they are also not very expensive Astram magna costs around Rs40/shot
