hello friends i want to know using pistolgrips for shotguns is good for homedefence compare to standard one?

Pistol grips (Hockey in Punjab) might look "cool" & "deadly" to some, but try accurately aiming from a pistol grip and see how easy it is to miss, and how hard it is to get back on target. The thing to remember with a pistol grip shotgun is that if you use it, you're taking the entire recoil in the web of your hand and forearm and the recoil is not absorbed here, you hand reacts to the recoil by moving and the "hockey" kicks like an angry mule . The hand moves a lot more than your shoulder does when you use a full stock shotgun. The best way to find about this is to fire a pistol grip shotgun at the local range and see whether you like it or not.
There is a lot of positive talk on the american gun forums about the pump action, pistol grip shot guns (some even have folding stocks) like a Reminton 870 or a Mossberg 500 for home defence. If you like them a lot and are lucky enough to find and pay for them, then don't look back. However having said that, with a "hockey grip" you are only utilizing a small portion of the shotgun's capability. I would advise you against buying an Indian made pistol grip shotgun.
IOF has made some reasonable 12 ga shotguns with standard stock in past and they are available at the A/A dealers, it would be a good idea to handle one and see.

They can more conveniently be carried in a car and pointed at any person trying to stop the car. The accuracy of aim is however problematic and difficult. The severe recoil will lead to the muzzle being thrown upwards and wrist spraining recoil.

The so-called 'hockey' grip are best avoided. If you have a single barrel shotgun, and the barrel is 24 or max 26 inches, with the straight comb stock slightly cut off about an inch, it would be the best option for home defense.

Excessively short barrels will cause the gun to whip up while being shot, plus the fact that our law does not permit barrels below 20 inches. Shortening the stock will make it easily mountable.

Whether one uses pump action, semi automatic or a breech loading gun is the owners personal choice, but this being India, getting one as per your wish is a difficult option. Best is to improvise with what one has.

I have a few shotguns and I personally prefer having a standard buttstock.

However my barrel is shorter than this example. Anyway, as a pistol grip only it is not that useful, you cannot aim but only shoot from the hip or chest level. If you try to aim the gun will lunge backwards and whack the person in the face, I am sure there must be videos of that happening on the net. Regarding recoil, if you shoot it from the hip or the chest level and keep both hands on the gun it is not bad at all, so do not let that deter you but unless you will be in a very obstacle filled environment, if you are like me you will end up preferring to use a full size stock.

One more thing is that a pistol grip can be made in an hour or so and the only take minutes to change over, so if it is legal in your area you can buy a full sized model and make or have made a pistol grip to see if you like it, and if not you are not you have not wasted that much of time or money.

Chandrashekhar, my advice is to try shooting one of those things before you decide. The stock on the pump gun I bought for this project was already broken, so I was out nothing when I tried it and couldn't hit a bull's butt with a bass fiddle. I ordered a replacement stock and the shotgun became quite useful.

I think you are doing the right thing by asking, but it is only the first step. The second one is trying out what you're interested in.
