If you had searched the forum, this matter is already discussed. As discussed in those posts cartridge cases made of paper have cycling issues in IOF pump action shotguns. Cartridge cases made of plastic are reported to work fine.

Theoretically IOF pump action should be better than DBBL since it has four cartridges(provided the cartridges cycle without issues). Similarly DBBL is better than SBBL since it has two cartridges instead of one in SBBL.

BTW instead of applying for SBBL, you could have applied for "NPB Shotgun" or "NPB Shotgun/Rifle". This would have given you wider range of buying options instead of being tied down only to single barrel breach loading gun.

There is no comparison between pump action and sbbl. Pump action is much superior. Pump action costs above 1.5 L where as sbbl are priced around 3-4 K only. Or did you mean something else by 'sbbl' ?

hello,

as of now, civlians are not being allowed to have new pump action on their licenses, only old/re-sale weapons are bieng allowed.

yes there is a huge problem of stuck cartridges, whether paper or plastic covered cartridges,

in my family, two cousins had pump action, they bought it way back from Sangrur, when the gun was launched by IOF, and that time many people were not aware of the pump action in Punjab and the gun was a piece of attraction where ever we went, from the DC office (licences are issued there), to the police station whenever it was deposited due to elections or on the orders of SSP/DC.

from the begining, there was problem with cartridges getting stuck or the used ones not ejecting properly,

one cousin sold it after keeping it for 6 years, at that time it was sold for just 55000/-
last month the other cousin sold it and it was sold for 165000/-

quality has been always an issue with recent IOF weapons and cartridges and another common issue is cartridges getting stuck in .32 bore pistol of IOF.

i have a 1972 IOF DBBL gun and its quality speaks for itself, the barrel, the stock are of excellent quality, but the recent weapons leave much to be desired.

hello
mr chandrashekar ji

u should have applied for NPB GUN and not for SBBL, because if u have applied only for SBBL, u wont be allowed to have any other type of weapon on ur license

thanks for suggestion my dear freinds, but my dear freind avs told that if i have a licence of sbbl i am not allowed to buy a PA gun but i thought that it will come under sbbl(may be i am wrong),because in licence application i have only choice of BL gun, sbbl, dbbl, revolver, pistol or rifle therefore i selected sbbl may be its a mistake

On SBBL license you can certainly buy pump action gun since it is also single barrel breach loading gun. Instead you could have chosen BL gun, that would have included SBBL and DBBL since both are breach loading guns.

I did the same thing 12 years ago. Well, then I just wanted the license and never thought of the weapon. The clerk there just mentioned it himself. When I went to buy a DBBL the dealer told that the license was for SBBL.
Let the purchase period expire and apply again as NPB rifle. I applied that time for DBBL. I got it. Give it a try and may be it works for you as well.
Alternatively, you can talk to any gun dealer. Purchase a SBBL and sell it back to him. Apply afresh for a NPB rifle or pistol/revolver. Even if you don't want to sell SBBL, you can have three weapons on the license. Why to worry?
