Little old fashioned with hammers but I am sure some of you folks will appreciate her.

The address on the Rib is a Simson & Co Suhl (Germany) , looks like the action has been sourced by Simson from Ferlach Austria as the gun has Ferlach & Prague proof marks. 20 gauge with 28 inch barrels.

Excellent-looking gun! What chokes does it have and what do you use it for?

Have you managed to identify the year of manufacture?

Thanks.

Steve - The chokes are mod & mod. The gun has proof marks from Ferlach proof house Vienna (1925) & Prague proof house 1958.

What do you shoot with it, Herb? With more open chokes in one barrel (at least), it would a dandy quail gun.Or woodcock or grouse, for that matter, though grouse woods can be tough on guns.

While the shotgun indeed is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship and Sa_ali can justly say what he has said ,IFG members have their breath taken away by anything from a budget mass produced firearm( e.g. a Webley & Scott/S&W revolver) to banged up name guns well past their prime and in many cases beyond restoration.Any offense taken is neither meant nor intended and is purely incidental

Hmmm..... I have always loved your short and sweet repartee's (in that order)...sometimes almost insulting - but I must admit, I am intrigued. Hell - I am no Mentalist - but lets see where this goes? Like your style Winnie! :D

I had the opportunity to handle a simin suhl recently. Didnt fire but the balance was sweet and she pointed very neatly. A good gun.

Hi Safarigent,

Didn't quite get what you meant - would be happy to have it clarified.

I dont know if they made Shotguns? AFAIK Simson made handgun, rifles, machine guns and sub-machine guns...

What he means is that he saw my father's .12 ga. Simson Suhl shotgun lately. I'll post some detailed pics of it soon. In fact, I'd appreciate any additional information on it.
