Dear Friends,

Recently I got permission of adding a 12 bore as second weapon to my existing arms licence. At local gun dealer in Jaipur, I've seen a good condition Spanish Astra 12 gauge 12 bore DBBL break action SxS shotgun, Model-811. I want suggestions/ opinion from IFG community, which help me in providing more information on the same.

Does the barrel have the Spanish proof marking on it, if not then i dont think its Spanish.
Please search the forum, there have being several such claims of these guns having Spanish barrels, but nothing to substantiate it.

Our SXS is a Spanish Astra.Nothing grand about it but an honest boxlock built well and one that will serve you well provided it is in good condition and you take good care of it.

Astra box lock shotguns are solid, dependable, workingman’s shotguns. If there is any doubt as to whether or not a shotgun was made by Astra, here are the markings one may expect to see.

The actual company name is Unceta y Cia, and the maker’s code found on water table and barrel flats is ‘U.C.', thusly:

Additionally the company name and crest is usually found on the barrels:
