does it work good with indian ammo,

Winchester discontinued the Model 12 in the 60's. Apparently almost two million were made so there is a chance that some ended up in India but it is not going to be that easy to find. Parts availability in India will be close to non-existent. The majority were chambered for 2 3/4 inch shells but some older models were chambered for 2 5/8 inch shells so there is reason for caution.

The arrival of the Remington 870 signaled the demise of the Model 12 as the 870 with its stamped parts could be produced for a lot less cost.
The Model 12, unlike most modern shotguns, had no trigger disconnecter so you could hold the trigger down and it would fire with every pump. One could empty the magazine in a really short time. This endeared it to generations of US soldiers, sailors and marines, who used it to good effect all the way from WW1 to Vietnam.

There is nothing wrong with the Model 12 but I'm biased. Having grown up with the Remmy 870, with its twin action-bars, I much prefer it to any pump with a single action-bar.

This is a variation of the usual question from newer folk and perhaps the less well informed.

To simplify things:

Imports of firearms has been largely banned since 1986. I say 'largely' since sports persons can import, but specific to their sport, and Transfer of Residence (TR) is also available, though incredibly difficult and limited to a single NPB arm not to be transferred or sold during the lifetime of the licensee.

Thus, there is a severe shortage of imported arms in the market. Most are the 30+ year old weapons imported before 1986, doing their rounds around the country.

There is not readily available specific imported models in the market... It'll be just your luck if you come across one at a reasonable price and certainly not because stocks of specific arms are maintained anywhere.

There is also, as a result, no such thing as a market price for any import. It's a sellers market and the seller decides the price.
