Press Release: WEBLEY & SCOTT TO LAUNCH THE UKs MOST INEXPENSIVE SIDELOCK SHOTGUNS AT THE CLA GAMEFAIR

Webley (International) Ltd (Webley) of Willenhall, West Midlands, UK, the iconic British Shooting company established in 1790, announced today the launch, at the CLA Gamefair 24th-26th July 2009, of a duo of genuine 7-pin sidelock shotguns.

To celebrate the 220th Anniversary of the founding of our company in 1790,we are launching both SXS and O/U configurations in 12ga and 20ga, strictly limited to 220 pieces worldwide said Mike Hurney, CEO of Webley The marriage of high-tech CNC Machined parts together with traditional fitting, finishing and engraving skills has enabled us to produce a superlative sidelock at less than half the price of our nearest competitor Hurney concluded.

Webley & Scott 220 SXS are true seven-pin hand-detachable sidelocks, the hallmark of the worlds most highly regarded and valuable shotguns. Two independent firing mechanisms are mounted on sideplates carefully inletted into the stock and mated with the receiver. Superior to 5-pin configurations, 7-pin sidelocks like the Webley & Scott 220 have an intercepting safety sear and an extra pin anchoring the bridle to provide added stability for the lock mechanism along with greater durability.

Precision engineered from special alloy steel, lock parts receive the proper temper and tolerances to deliver a lifetime of dependable service. The locks and receiver provide a broad canvas for the engravers art, each exhibiting fine scroll hand engraving, with accents continuing onto the barrels and forend furniture. Stocked in fine Turkish walnut that is inletted and chequered by hand, Webley & Scott shotguns offer outstanding value.

Executed carefully, technology blends well with tradition. Webley & Scott barrels are chrome-lined to accommodate steel shot, and chambers in 12 and 20 gauge models are 3-inch to allow greater load selection. State-of-the-art machinery shapes them to a graceful taper and masterful hands fit them seamlessly to the receiver.

Are these guns made in UK or are they being sourced from turkey like BSA?

Since these are sidelocks and only 220 of them will be made, I am assuming that they will be at a price point where they can/will be made in UK.
