Dr Yadav,

You can shoot rifled slugs through choked barrel. You can get more information on this topic here.

http://www.chuckhawks.com/shotgun_slugs.htm

I read/heard that slugs are best shot through a single barrel gun with a skeet choke or cylinder choke. But, it largely depends on what kind of slug you are shooting. Would you like to tell us what kind of rifled slugs you have,if any? Thanks.

Any idea why that is the case?

Seriously, you can do it as long as the slug is smaller than the choke constriction

A shotgun slug is a heavy lead projectile, usually with pre-cut rifling, intended for use in a shotgun and often used for hunting large game. The first effective shotgun slug was introduced by Wilhelm Brenneke in 1898, and his design remains in use today. Most shotgun slugs are designed to be fired through a smoothbore barrel, which means that they must be self-stabilizing and capable of passing through a choked barrel.
googling helps..
i guess thats the way its designed then.. :D

using a slug from a choked barrel is not at all recommended. Looking at the dimensions of a choked barrel a slug can be fatel incase it refuses to pass through a choked tube . slug is always used in parallel tube and not in choke . But Dr saab why do really want to get into this adventure :D

Well then please enlighten us the reason behind making the choked tube in a gun. A choked tube in used to control the projectile of the pellets in the numbered cartrige and hardly makes any difference for a slug. And if you have a expertise in this field then why are you asking this question.

There were the days when shooting a slug through a choked barrel was considered risky. But those were the days of Lethal ball and the kinds, generally of British manufacture. The slugs of most kinds including rifled slugs of late are generally made a wee bit undersized to accommodate them in any choke. In fact some believe it shoots more accurately from a choke barrel. I have personally shot the Fiocchi rifled slugs from my Superposed choke barrel (Upper)with excellent result at measured 80 yrds. I didn't risk shooting longer distance for the fear that I might miss the 2'x2' target all together because of the crude shotgun sight. The slugs cut a 1.5" bull , one at 6' o clock, the other at 8' o clock and the 3rd at 1 o'clock. All three shots were fired off hand to absorb the recoil better which was indeed noticeable when shooting on target.

ps: I wouldn't vouch for our Indian Rifled Slugs though.

Doc,

If you read his post carefully. I clearly meant NO. I don't think he disrespected you or anything. May be for you his choice of words was not right or he didn't know that you are so sensitive :D

One advice do not comment on people's warning. You never know when you get one
