If I had a choice between a Purdey and Boss,I would go for Boss any day.
Boss always generally go for a bit more than Purdey. In this case I think some more detail would help for example length of chamber can make impact price great deal and date of manufacture of the guns etc as you already know its hard to comment on anything without physically examining them.

i love Old fine guns, but when i hear amount like 14,00,000, i sort of fail to understand the reason behind it.
I mean in todays world i think we have better quality of steel, better machinery, So shouldnt be today gun more valuable.
I mean with CNC machine with better steel steel, we should be getting better guns.
I just want to understand from functional perspective, not from status of owning one :D

Sorry if i sound lil foolish,

SA_ali

you dont sound foolish at all, but a CNC machine can only take you so far, after that it is still hand work and depending on who wields the files, it is then a matter how good the product becomes. and allthough we can get better steels today there really is no reason to do so, our safety margins can just be a bit bigger but remember that it is not as much a matter of making a gun that goes boom, but making that gun balance like it were a extra piece of you, so when you bring your shotgun or rifle into the field of sport, you can be sure that it is not the gun that will miss but you instead :)

also with CNC machines you allways have a tolerance involved that the files have to take care of at a later time so if you make a gun that can be put together like a lego set then you can be sure that it proberly wont be the highest precision or balance there is, but it wil be cheap though :)

I agree, but the tolerance in good high quality CNC machines is in few micro, so doesnt that leave less human effort and guidance required as compared to good old time when the candle smoke were used to make marking on the guns spares to check the tolerance, thats what i heard, never had hands on experience.
May be i being guided by lil bit of too much science than ground reality :(
