Peter I think it is in India only that people are paying the maximum price for a decent firearm as compared to entire world. eg half a million rupees(10000$) for a good secondhand o/u gun.

when i am talking about high end, sidelock O/U ejectors, i am talking about guns that will start around 40.000,-euro and depending on engraving and other embellisments  move upwards in price, i am just trying to see if the indian market is ready for such guns if they can be produced in india ( they can it is just a matter of demand)

best regards

Today's exchange rate is 1 euro = 61.52 INR , so the cost roughly works out to be Rs. 24.6 Lakhs for the base model of Peter's gun and one pays more if one wants the "toppings" .

Now at that price I am unsure about the number of customers Peter's high end gun would attract . :( A very few perhaps.

Peter,

I assume that you are in India. Finally some one is putting in some effort into producing some workable guns for the Indian gun buyers.Considering the junk most have been turning out it would take some effort to convince Indian buyers to spend good money on Indian made guns.Something in the price range of $1200 or about Rs 60,000/- is what might sell.

winnie and doc

the guns i am talking about is soley a private project while i assist the indian geltleman in the production on his more affordble O/U shotguns, the reason i asked were that i was asked a quote from another estemed indian gentleman about a best sidelock ejector O/U with additionel rifle barrels.
the rifle barrels were to be kept at my zambian agents gunroom to be used for the clients future safaris, so i was just wondering if there were the need for more of these guns, that is all.
the price of a best gun is allways striking, but just remember that we are talking about handwork all the way through untill the gun is a uniqe piece of art, the man hours alone is often into 1,5 years time before completion.

winnie: no, i am not in india yet, but will be on and off over the next years to come.

best regards

peter

Peter after reading your post I need immediate medical attention, I was shifter to trauma centre. But now my situation is out of danger and slowly stabilizing. But next time I request you to please look at the sensitivity of the statement for the sake of people like me who have a weak heart when it come to economics and financials setbacks . Thanks to The Doc and WTP who came to my rescue

You may be able to find some clients in India. However, the guns you make will have to be sold under the name of a licensed gun maker.

In India,at the moment at least, private manufacture of arms is limited to smooth bore guns.

the project quote were for a gentleman with a import license so it was actually a taksdale gun i quoted, and the rifled barrels were for safari use in africa.

but i was just wondering if there were a market for fine arms, but we will just have to wait and see, i think i might make one anyway for the fun of it  , and remember to keep medical attention at hand for grewal as well.

Peter,
A wholoe generation or more has no idea about lawful ownership and bespoke guns.
while there is a market for fine guns-I use the word fine to distinguish between some of the pre colombian artefacts which pass off as shotguns here, bespoke may be out of the question, given our prevailing g laws. Who would want to spend 10,000 Euros with an ammo quota of 25 shells per year.
Yes, if quality shotsguns are made available at prices which are 'worth it" as we Indians may put it, there will be a market for it. between 1500-3000 US$ would be a decent range.Think Zafer and those Turkish class of O/U shotty's

these are my new C-class prototypes, the first batch of the production guns are at the engraver at the moment. please remember that the prototypes are a bit rough around the egdes.

this is my face book page for my own label, the website will be done as soon as i have the first production guns finished.

since my main work evolves around double rifles this is what i have chosen to concentrate on, i can and do make shotguns, but only on specific order from costumer.
