MOA, other manufacturers also do not have much of a presence on Net.
I was amused to see the drug company name all over the place!

NGrewal, you mean the hockey butt guns?

I know the usual shotguns with regular butts are the way to go but could someone recollect the advantages of Classic shotguns(long barrel + regular butt) for me. Things like range, comfort are a given but the operation, use, etc. is pretty similar.

I have to get a 12 bore only because I've had it added to my license.

Btw, can I buy a pump action shotgun on a license valid for a DBBL?

.32: If that extension is perforated it wouldn't be a sound moderator, but a (pretend?) muzzle brake, designed to reduce recoil, but greatly increasing muzzle blast - for heavily recoiling rifles. Putting them on shotguns must be an Indian thing. I doubt they would do much good at the velocity and muzzle pressure involved, or else all shotgun barrels would be Swiss-cheesed at the muzzle. You don't even see that design with extended choke tubes any more. Cheers.

TwoRivers(doab!), let me see if I can get some pics. of these extentions. These are not separate attachments but come built in with the barrels. Most probably these are just a copy of the real thing, just to add some visual appeal.

P.S: No new suggestions on which Gun to buy guys!

Look for used IOF DBBL, Khairudin or Modern as members mentioned. Remember one thing Guns cant be sold and purchased say like a car they are hard to come by and paper work is a drag. Therefore spend time and effort judiciously on time tested paradigm which is stick with the classic stock and barrel. If you are patient and can ping various dealers in Punjab Haryana and HP who knows what you might find. IMHO spend extra few thousand rupees and get a decent shotty I know I am preaching to the choir here.

Good luck

NGrewal, your suggestions are valuable. I'll try to find a decent IOF DBBL if I can find one!

Otherwise which are the better Indian manufacturers other than IOF?

I've come across: Simco, Bhati, Nehar Singh, Beco, REX, etc.

Hi 32,like N Bhaji said and i completely agree with him, look for a 2nd hand like a Modren,Mehar Singh, try out Virdi a jalandhar,or Fauji at ludhiana,or the best put some more money and look for a decent shotgun.Boss its a firearm and only in our great country are thapis, daangs etc  are allowed to be classified as firearms for the lack of choice, but the {GOD FORBID} grief you can save yourself in case of a mishap would be worth the money and effort put now.All the best.

Thanks Ngrewal, already gone through the link.

Amit, Virdi in Jalandhar is an arms dealer? Please give location.

Are you reffering to a mishap caused by a faulty gun?

Amit has THE point guns hopefully should never be required in a dire situation - one needs to have a decent gun by the side - one which will consistently and reliably fire. Also look up all the dealers in the dealers forum of this board and the sale section and ping the folks who have guns for sale. Also check the forum where guidelines are for a checklist to evaluate a gun. Do post pictures of your gun prior to purchase ( if possible) for member feedback.

Thnaks Ngrewal, I was wondering why are the under 20" barrel shotguns common in U.S. Here in India they are considered as Thapis!

Btw can I get a Pump action gun on my license which has PP for DBBL.

Most importantly if the barrel is 22" long, does it make a difference if its a regular/normal butt or a hockey/pistol butt?

In India there is a law restricting the length of shotguns barrel again this was discussed on board other informed members can better advise. Yes per my knowledge ( circumstantial) pump action doesnt require any special license and can be endorsed on regular lic. My uncle had a Pump action per current rates it is going to be lot more expensive compared to a decent sxs shotgun.

Mate hockey pistol butt is cinema conjured up thingy you still seem to be smitten by this ridiculous fixture...get over it and start the treasure hunt you will be meeting some interesting folks and guns..

I have a late 90s Mehar Singh, that I might put up for sale to make room on my license. Years ago I had pics on the site before it crashed. Are you in a hurry?

NGrewal, what I wanted to know is that I have a PP on my license for a DBBL. Now can get a Pump Action on th esame PP or will have to get the endorsement changed to SBBL(pump action).

Im ready to spend that extra buck fro the Pump action but aby idea about the range it falls into?

The regular butt must be having its advantages over the Hockey/pistol butt but could someone put them forward on the record?

Hamiclar, actually my mind has now deviated to a Pump action! :?

Ok, saw a few 26" barrel DBBL's. One was a used Visco, coming ~22k, other was a new Prem kumar or Chand for the same amount.

There was a 22" over-under also for ~ 28k but I don't want to get a 22"barrel gun with a conventional butt.

NGrewal, what I wanted to know is that I have a PP on my license for a DBBL. Now can get a Pump Action on th esame PP or will have to get the endorsement changed to SBBL(pump action).
You can get it changed as "NPB shotgun/rifle" these would enable you to buy any NPB shotgun or rifle. It would be even better if you can get endorsed "NPB firearm"(I am not sure if Licensing Authority babus would do that) it would enable you to buy any NPB firearm, be it revolver/pistol/rifle/shotgun.
There was a 22" over-under also for ~ 28k but I don't want to get a 22"barrel gun with a conventional butt.
Any shotgun below 20" is classified as "prohibited bore". Conventional butt is the best for any barrel length shotgun or rifle, if I would be in your position I would go for conventional butt. Still if you would like to go for any "unconventional" butt, it is your choice and money, you are the best judge.
