Pran, I`ve got almost 5,000 bullets to make up that I wuz robbed of.......so all you lot are going to get for the next month is utter drivel - and loads of it !
So, no deal mate.
By the way, there`s nothing personal in my taking the mickey ( sorry ! ) - it`s just the noble art of ripping the p*ss by attacking any `weakness`...... and your mates laid you wide-open for the onslaught. Plus there`s the fact that you`re the baby of the group. Just too many `openings` to resist. Also you fight back.......which provides even more openings.
My sincere apologies if I`ve caused you offence.
- And anyway, it`s more fun to go back to `fighting` with my old sparring partner Mack The Knife......because he gets so ANGRY !
LOL.
John.

Did you notice that I didn`t call you Mickey ?
That`s cos your dad got stroppy with me - el Jefe, the Mexican bandit, is scary........and is even harder than my hero, Mack The Knife.
Mind you, el Jefe can`t shoot for toffees - his droopy moustache keeps getting caught up in the hammer of his revolver and his big sombrero keeps blocking his eyes.
My hero would never sacrifice style for efficiency........except that he does have a taste for leather trousers and Harley Davidsons......and Ruby was telling me that his groin gets horribly chafed. She told him to rub baby oil in. So he did - not even my hero argues with Mrs Schwartzenegger.
Now she`s REALLY hard !

Grumps, all that's said on the forum is taken in good humour. There's no need to apologise for it.

I have suspected that chappie of stamping different manufacturers name for a couple of years now.
Of course beyond reasonable doubt this is illegal business practice, but I wonder is it possible without a proper factory just at the gun shop owner's end to rub off stampings and rebrand guns ?

He could brand a belgian import of 1930s and pass it off as an english gun, quite possible.

Shahid, you are assuming it is a in-house job. It is actually outsourced. 'Stamping' was the wrong term to use as I suspect they are using laser engraving and this facility is available in Bangalore.

I do believe that this sort of deception is not new.It seems that even before 1947 guns were shipped to India and other parts of the Empire, that were made to look like those of the more famous gunmakers.

Grumps,

How did you come out with such an accurate de.scription of me ???
The only thing I would like to correct is the brew. Its whisky and not brandy and I dont swill it, I just throw it down the gullet. 8)

hollis and sons

Post by hollis3687 » Wed Jan 23, 2008 9:39 am

My shotgun is a Hollis and sons, London, 12 gauge side by side, with the words "laminated steel" engraved on the barrel. Alfred Hollis stamped in the breech along side the patent number 509. the numbers 8454 engraved on the trigger guard and the numbers 9018 stamped underneath between the barrels. along with the number 13 stamped underneath on both barrels. I have had no success online trying to find a model or even a match to any of the above de.scriptions. This gun was passed down to me from my grandfather who did not know anymore about it than i do. I am very interested in knowing the history, range of value, and if nothing else, the model number. Thank you for any and all help that you can lend.
