Usually it jams when we use KF paper shell ammo,as they get slightly swollen in mansoon or when they are exposed to little moisture. If Nylon shell ammo imported or like Astram are used they will not Jam( my personal experience)

IOF pump action is commanding good price these day , a dealer quoted 1.35 lac in merut , the body is alloy and tend to crack , as told by dealer . This guy qouoted 6.5 lac for a REMINTON 870 WITH 8 shot extended magazine in nib condiction , Pump action is supposed to be cheapest home defence machanism in USA , but in India ,really costly affair. 870 is no doubt the best pump action gun in world market but 6.5 lac is 12 times the cost .
Guns are happen to be best investment in INDIA ,really not effected by the prevaling economic scenario...

Must watch to get the notion out of your head that a single barrel or a double barrel are useless for home defence and that the only way to go is to get a PA shotgun. The current craze and the consequent high price is because of movies showing people being flung into the air after being shot with one.Complete nonsense. But then,we on IFG already know that

In 2001 when I got my arms license IOF .12 bore pump action gun was available with the arms dealer . They used to retail that gun for 35000/- ( brand new ) . But I purchased a mehar singh side by side for 24000/-. A decision I regret till today as I could have easily spend another 10000/- and could have bought a pump action instead. But the thing is that at that time there was no such rumor that IOF will stop selling a pump action to civilians . But I want to ask one question from you all learned friends that Is pump action illegal to purchase i.e. (is it no more considered as N.P bore weapon) . A few months ago a relative of mine bought a second hand pump action which he got added as .12 bore SBBL , and there is no mention of pump action the licensee. What should a person like me do who wishes to own a pump action, and want to have everything the legal way. Don't want to use any loop hole in the system . And I also what to share one news that I got NP bore revolver/pistol added to my license today and very soon I am going to get an iof .32 revolver booked at Kanpur . I will share my experience about that in another string.

Wishing you all a very happy new year

A Pump Action shotgun with a barrel not shorter than 20 inches, irrespective of the no. of cartridges it may hold, is NPB. Semi automatic shotguns are PB.

Please see the thread on PB/NPB firearms for more information.

This is going OT, but for the sake of clarity - as Browning has mentioned, so long as the barrel is 20 inches (or longer) a pump action/ lever action etc. will all be entered (legally) on a standard NPB SBBL Gun license.

However, all semi-auto/ self loading type shotguns (& rifles) are classified as PB.

As to why IOF stopped selling it's pump action gun in the civilian market, AFAIK it was not their decision, it was done under directions of the Min of Home Affairs. IOFB was not too happy about this, but they had no choice in the matter.

Cheers!

Recently i was searching for good pump action ,dealer often see IOF pump action coming to them from police department , this dealer strongly recommended me not to buy this IOF stuff , highly unreliable and that was the only reason for stopping civilian sale , the body is alloy and internal parts are weak .
The best option is to buy winchester model 12 or Reminton 870. cheeers James.....
