Felix Sarasketa
Experts,
Whats your take on a new, never used, Felix Sarasketa 12Gauge 28.5 inch O/U, black chrome plated, double trigger. I have googled it and I do understand that its nowhere near a Laurona which is made in the same counrty i.e Spain. What should be the price in India?
Waiting for your response.
best,
RP.

Re: Felix Sarasketa
There were three Sarasquetas - Victor, Felix and J.J. Reckoned to be brothers but I think that unlikely as the dates don`t tie-up. `Sarasketa` is the Basque spelling by the way.
None of the guns were particularly good but Victor made the best guns of the three. Felix Sarasqueta made guns at least into the 1990s as I`ve seen single trigger O/Us with the name.
The finish is NOT `black chrome` but will be an ordinary blued ( black ) finish - it looks shiny because the receiver is polished
The value of the gun in the UK depends on whether it is an ejector or not - if a non-ejector it will be worth very little, certainly under a hundred pounds - about £30-40 at auction. If an ejector something under £200 - maybe £150. Cheap Spanish guns are really difficult to sell here. I can`t comment on the value of the gun in India......... ridiculously expensive no doubt.
The gun should be servicable but that`s about all that can be said for it. Make sure that it has current proof marks and is chambered for 2 3/4" ( 70 mm ) cartridges.

It's always better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it !

The users seem pretty satisfied,if the gun you have seen is in good nick, the way you describe it then just
close on it asap. What is the seller asking
Grumps,there are two on sale at gunsamerica.com bet $1850 & $ 1900,but both are in 28g,do they
command a higher price.

Re: Felix Sarasketa
The smaller the bore, the more expensive the gun - usually ( and ignoring things like 9mm `garden guns`. )
Orthopod I`m ashamed to say that I didn`t notice that you were talking about an O/U - I wrongly assumed that you were talking about a SxS. I know of a couple of Felix Sarasquetas in similar condition to the one you describe, both at £495 - and a pretty good used one - which is older - at £135. The O/U guns are definitely better than the older SxS guns and are comparable to similar Lauronas of the same age......maybe better in fact.
The best value Spanish guns at the moment - in my opinion - are the Zabalas. Really good guns at moderate prices.
The best Spanish O/U is the Kamen.......not exactly cheap though ( ! )
THE best Spanish gunmaker is Pedro Arizabalaga - his guns range between £8,000 and £10,500 ( plus VAT ) ...... and are a bargain at those prices.

Re: Felix Sarasketa
Grumps, remember the sarasqueta i fancied at the last bedford auction. it was a fine gun, and went at ?400-600£, maybe vikram would help, since he was jotting the prices.Grumpy";p="32278 wrote: I know of a couple of Felix Sarasquetas in similar condition to the one you describe, both at £495 -
However, apart from the fact that it did not have much of a re sale value in u.k., there was no fault with the gun itself. pity i let it go

Re: Felix Sarasketa
To be honest Anand, I find it difficult to remember one gun from another unless it has something in particular to distinguish it - I just see far too many guns.
Did that particular gun have bulbous breech ends to the barrels - like AYA O/U`s and some older Italian and German O/Us ?
One of the Felix Sarasquetas I mentioned above that is being offered at £495 is new and has been `knocked-down` to that price - the dealer just can`t shift it. Makes a mockery of the auction price - especially when there is a good used example for sale at £135......and is indicative of how difficult it is to sell cheap Spanish guns in the UK. People just don`t trust them, the finish - especially the engraving - is crap and the barrels have a very poor reputation.
I don`t doubt that the current ( and for the last several years ) range of Felix Sarasquetas represent good value for money but convincing the British public is another matter.
