Well the gun is invaluable atleast that part my grandpa was right thanks a lot for the info i will no doubt be able to find the exact lineage ...tallyho

Mismara, If the gun is a factory Mauser it will probably be marked with the `Mauser` name somewhere, or at least with the manfacturing facility - look for a German placename - somewhere like `Obendorf`. The Belgian proof marks probably mean that the gun was converted in Liege rather than actually built there.
