All you need to do is to write/email to H&H.

[email protected]

www.hollandandholland.com

They would provide the details. But, you need to remember that a serial number can be forged, however competently or incompetently, and there are a lot of forgeries around. Two such guns were offered on this very board.

You could take some very clear photographs and post them here so that our members could take a look and come up with their views.

James,

According to serial number provided this gun would be around 1880's (1881-1882) much before Hammerless and Nitro era! It might also be a gun shot & regulated by Holland and Holland which means it is not a genuine Holland and Holland but retailed by Holland and Holland.

James,

Is it a hammer gun? What is the length of the chambers and barrel? Have you been able to take photographs for posting on this forum?

Regards.

Such an old number.....the latest H& H rifle/guns are in the range of 30000 to 32000

Year Serial Nos
1921 29499-30500

1922 30500 -30600

1929-1934 32500-33000

1936-1948 33300-33700

So probably the gun offered to you bearing serial no. 5883 must be made around 1880-1881.
