Guys let us not get into any needless arguments, if someone has jumped to a conclusion and given a hasty answer he can gracefully accept it. Vikram and WTP have given correct answers. You can do it as long as the slug is smaller than the choke constriction. If it is opposite then it is risky as the slug may get blocked in choke, may cause the barrel to explode or crack. It is just physics. And that is what Dr. Yadav wanted to know. :D

There is still some advice from the old days floating around, when shotgun slug meant a solid round lead ball of bore diameter. Lead is much softer than even the mildest steel; but when people were casting their own slugs, a harder lead alloy might have been used. Those could iron out the choke with a tightly choked barrel. Possibly even crack the muzzle if the barrel steel was brittle. Normally shotgun barrels are quite soft, and you would simply end up with little or no choke. All modern slugs are designed to be safely shot from all barrels, regardless of choke. Performance may vary depending on choke, and particular slug, but it will be safe. A round ball has a very small contact surface with the barrel wall, it could never get stuck and cause a burst barrel with the correct powder charge.
Having said all that, I don't know a thing about Indian manufactured slugs. Only the hearsay on this forum. But I doubt that they would damage the barrel, or choke.

u understand the meaning what he said when u askeda question it means yes u can fire a slug but dont know whats going to happen after u fire a slug through a choke as bullets never remain un fire

it all depends if barrel is full coke or half choke

Could you please tell us the company's name of the particular rifled slug which you wish to use in your gun.
What I have seen that there is only one type of rifled slug available in India and that is from Clever Mirage.

If this is the rifled slug that you want to use then yes, you can use it in choke barrel. At the back of the box it is very clearly written "Suits all type of Choking". Now if the reputed international company is claiming that it can be used in all types of choking then we should not have any problem in using this rifled slug in choke barrel.
I have used it in my Modern o/u without any problem.

I guess folks responded and it was a mixed bag..would be nice if you could post the pictures of the Shotty and the Slug. Certain state like Wisconsin in US only allow Deer hunt using Shotguns but folks typically switch to barrels with rifling, I guess one the members here uses such gun for hunting.

best
