Just heard about the sad demise of Shri. Lingam. This unfortunate incident occurred yesterday night at Salem.
May his soul rest in peace, and God give solace to his bereaved family.
...
A fine man, and a great friend to many, always helpful with his witty and nicely strict attitude. He will be remembered always...

Sorry everyone... I left to Salem as soon as I posted this in the morning.
V Dharmalingam, affectionately known as Lingam Sir is the tall sturdy figure that every pistol shooter who has visited the 25 meter range in any Indian competition for the last almost two decades would have surely observed.
Hailing from a humble village called Bhelkurchy, near Salem, this gentleman was a driving force in the Naval team, and has trained many pistol shooters. He has always extended a courageous and assuring smile to everyone who needed any kind of assistance. His sturdy command is something that will echo shooters who has fired under his lane-command.
Mr. Lingam always showed what one would expect from a coach or an NRAI official, and was 'there' in every competition, rigidly working from dawn to dusk. Anyone who knew him will ascertain what a wonderful combination of training, humor and guidance this person gave. He has traveled around the globe mentoring the Indian team.
In the wee hours of this sad day, he took his last breath on his daughter's lap, leaving behind a family shattered with unbelievable sorrow. Some of us from Bangalore could not hold back from having a last glimpse of this great soul, and I am just back from his home town.
What I miss, more than the man, is the patience and experience that he had in him, which was a lighthouse for all shooters afloat on wavy waters. NRAI has lost an irreplaceable feather in its cap, and the Indian Shooting fraternity, a deep sorrow filled hole!

Thanks for the write-up, chief. I don't have any words for the loss to the family and fraternity. I hope God gives the family the courage to get through these trying times.
Regards
