strange as this may sound, i belong to a gun forum in the USA. the forum administrator just informed the members that the reason they were unable to go on the forum was due to Government agencies are blocking them from accessing the forum.
[now they changed the name tag and members can log on]
what next?

Thats strange unless some thing really off the board was posted there which prompted the authorities for this radical action..

I lurk on some US boards, but do not participate. (IFG is "home, sweet home") None of the boards I observe are having troubles that I can see. Which board is this?

I don't doubt that the admins of that particular site believes the US Gov blocked them, but truth be known, it may have been a system glitch or blocking software of particular employers. As intrusive as the Gov may seem, they have a lot better things to do than to deny First Amendments rights.
Having said that, if the site members are constantly making racist commentary or advocating the overthrow of the Gov by violent means, this sort of thing would warrant more monitoring, not less.
I recall a site I lurked on(a few years back) that began having way too many racist posts, and other things that were just too over the top for my liking. I began reading negative things about them on other forums. They were excellent candidates for gov agencies "taking names & making a list". I'm glad I wasn't registered there, but decided to delete any bookmarks and cookies that linked me to them in any way. Paranoid? Maybe. But I felt better about it.

I belong to a couple of wingshooting/shotgun boards and never heard of such a thing. As we have a few lawyers among our members (but don't hold it against them), I think such action would be addressed legally and our outdoor writer members would certainly cover it in sporting publications.
The current regime has its hands full, and is probably not worried about gun boards, short of threats on the President's life. Shooters and gun owners did not, broadly speaking, support him. But with the current VP, I can't imagine that anyone would want anything to happen to President Dither. Can't think that anything else that would cause the US Govm't to act as alleged.
