Its the person behind the camera who takes good photograph, and not the camera, one can get nice cripsy picture does not mean that you will get the same using the same camera, it depends upon the light , apperture , shutter speed and lense and more over how you are composing the subject, I am not a Canon or Sony user but I use Nikon D80 , so cant comment which on the better model but only thing I can say both are good camera where Sony use Zeiss lense ( which is a german lense) and recording unit is built by Sony where Canon use their own lense and body. My suggestion is try both camera in the store (if that is possible) or from some freind and take some photographs with both of it and find out which suits you better , in terms of handling , picture quality etc. Its a matter of personal preference which cannot be decided by others except you.

Hope this helps.

Probably the most comprehensive and useful digital camera guide.

depends on what do you mean "shoot with camera", there is some people who used webcam fixed on barrel with laser pointer to register rifle movement, poor man Scatt so to say. Not sure how it works, if at all.

If you are purchasing point and shoot with some zoom capability cant go wrong with Canon a decent one can be had for $500is for example Canon G 11 (top end) or Canon sd90 /s940 and if DSLR then its Nikon D3000 or Canon Xsi. Even an old Nikon D60 or D40 isnt bad but depends on the lenses you want to invest in. Joydeep is also a good source ( a membere here).

Dpreview is a great site but in lay man's term http://kenrockwell.com/
try the above site.

Again I am biased towards Canons( point and shoot) and Nikons ( DSLR) they have been building lenses for a long time any way its person behind the camera that also matters and how much control do you want..

Good luck
