Well, the rules always stated that one could "bump up" the post only after 24 hours had elapsed and not before. This was never really enforced but now through modifications made to the system, it works as follows:

1. Once a user has posted on a thread, he cannot post again on the same thread till 6 hours have elapsed OR someone else has made a post after his post.

2. In case a member makes another post before the 6 hour period has elapsed it will automatically be appended to his previous post along with a date/ time stamp separating the earlier post from the latest one.

This is an example of a post being appended to a previously made post. Note the date/ time stamp separating this post from my previous one...

I posted in the 'Govt. allows duty free Import of pellets finally' thread. The previous post was mine as well. 3 days had elapsed between the two posts, but my new post got merged with the old one. Since my new post mentioned that I had provided the phone number of the HT reporter who will sort out the situation, one would have liked the post to move up and show on the recently posted topics. I hope at least the routine email informing those following the thread was sent.

Ai, I just checked out the post mentioned above and have made a minor tweak to the system. Since yours is still the last post, could you try posting again to that thread - to see if the tweak worked or not.

Thanks,

Abhijeet

No Abhijeet it is not adding a new post but just appending the old one.

No, it got merged again without bumping the thread/post up. I suggest the anti bump protection be installed only for 'Sale' section. In other sections, members derive no tangible benefit by moving their post up, IMO. In the pellet import thread, it is desirable to let members know that action is underway.

This issue has been resolved - now the bump frequency limiter on all posts is set at 3 hours, except for posts under the sale sections where the limiter is set at 1 day. Any post made before the time limit would be automatically merged with the previous post. Please do let me know if any of you face further issues with this.

Am also working at debugging why post submissions are taking so long, hopefully should have a fix for that soon.

Cheers!
