Hey guys,

I am currently using a olympus E1 with a 14-45mm lens. I have been using it for the past 2-3 years.

I am getting a deal on a new Canon EOS XS model for 500$. This package includes a 14-45mm lens and a 70-300mm lens along with the body. I wanted your opinion on the canon camera and whether i should replace my current E1.

thanks,

regards
Parag

I have a Canon Rebel XTi, and am loving it. Although I had (and have) planned to dispose it, I should say it is fairly a very good camera, with some wonderful features. Just make sure you have a good 70-300 lens with stabilization, or else, it is extremely difficult to use the full zoom capacity. The original Canon kit includes a 15-55 stabilized lens, which is much required. If you dont get this lens, you may have a bad time with the camera.

The XS is supposed to be an update of the XTi (which I have, and should only be better.

However, only the camera and the original 15-55 lens is priced at 700$ in the US. I dont know how you can cut of 200$ from this and still get a zoom lens. :)

You can also try SONY A 350

It might not be as good as Nikon D90 but i loved it for the ease of use and the picture quality.
Canon Rebel XSI does not have live view ( if thats imp for you)

The XSI are good cameras. A friend bought one just the other day and she is happy though she is just exploring it. As Mandeep says, no live view in it and I read that there are some niggling problems with the sensors particular to this model.I cannot guarantee you how accurate those reports are.

As Mandeep says, A 350 are good cameras. I would say A300 is an even better deal, all the features of A350 at 10.1 MP against 14 MP of the former and a lot cheaper. The standard lens is also 18-70mm I think. Another friend bought the A300 and he is happy.

A very good place to read reviews on digital cameras

Here is another site to give you feedback on various cameras

but the best feedback is usually what you experience for yourself after using it. Everyone has different opinions

Here the link to the deal :

I tried my cam and the XS at a local camera shop. After comparing the two i decided not too buy the XS and stick with my E1. The decision was partially financial. on the other hand i am investing in a new Lens, a 40-150mm lens

Thanks for your advice.
