There are few more pictures about Japs shooting Indian POW. Also check out the carnage they wrought on Andaman Nicobar Island and INA was aware of such atrocities.

When studying the history of the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere," it is clear that the "Co" part was decidedly one-sided. India, China, The Philippines, Korea: all of these nations and others were not impressed by the share of prosperity they received. Reminds one of "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss." At least.
Such disregard for basic rights and freedom is sadly all too common, even today.
Thanks for the sobering reminder.

Very disturbing,
I did'nt know about Andaman & Nicobar till now.
The Japs mistreated their POW everywhere, irrespective of the nationality. Even civilians in occupied territory were mistreated. And Jap civies paid the price, when they were nuked.

for what i am about to say, i do not want to be misunderstood or someone say something i did not say.
one thing we have to take in account is that in the jap culture/society, being taken as a prisoner is very shame full thing, hari kari is to be expected.
they rather kill them selves then be taken prisoner. thus they regarded prisoners worse then slaves, so killing them was not a moral issue for them. may they be civis or POWs.
we must not forget that the INA was not in a place to help their fellow countryman as the POWs were in British uniforms. And INA was fighting the Britishers with or without the japs.
so there could have been some element of loyalty which had to be shown to the japs.
i am not making excuses for anyone, nor do i approve of what was done.
i am pointing out the total helplessness of the situation.

Japanese at that time believed in racial purity and superiority of the yamato(japanese) people and treated other races as inferior to them.

At the same time there were many inn British Army service including britishers who deserted the British Imperial army and joined Netaji Subash Chandra Bose; INA.
I am proud to add that many people from my family too served in the INA in a bid to win Indias freedom.
