The Woods Are Lovely Dark & Deep

Monday morning had me getting ready to go on a trip to one of my work sites, the truck was fully loaded and the Mahindra Pick-up was waiting for me by 12:00 noon. I was supposed to be a passenger on the pick-up. (I love to drive the pick-up when it's fully loaded but I guess I am getting old) I could'nt make up my mind whether to go or follow in my car the next day! Something made me decide on the later so I ended up waving my people goodbye!

This is the kind of country we have to go through to get to my work site just 140 kms. away but a full 8 hours drive!

Whose woods are these?

7:00 Pm and I get a call that my pick-up had met with an unfortunate accident! After arranging the emergency relief (through through the nearest village) for my people, I immediately packed up and went to the site of the accident (80 kms away)

5:00 Am the next day and I was at the site of the accident just a few meters away from the last house of a village halfway to my work site.
Tell tale tracks on the road..

Mahindra Pick-up is a tough nut to crack!

The pick-up rolled over 6 times before it hit the banks of a small river!

View from halfway below! This is one quick way to clear a jungle!

Really tough nut! My boys escaped due to the very robust cab and God's grace..

The recovery,,

Luckly though both the passengers escaped without a scratch although they went with the pick-up till the end! The driver is still in coma but doctors say there is hope as there are signs that he is recovering after 48 hours.

And I have miles to go before I sleep.. and God on my side!

Hope the driver makes it. Except that you had to rush to get to the accident spot, looks like you had to travel through some really scenic places. Lucky you. Wish there were such places around Bangalore. .......

Hmm.. Nice trial for you Jonah. Hope the best for the Driver, and thank the lord for the passengers... Such incidents remind me of the fraction-of-a-second that accidents occur.. and all the while, we think we are in control....
