Car repairs on Bangalore - Mysore Highway.
If you are ever stuck due to a car break down, particularly near Ramnagara, contact Manohar Menezes of Menezes Motors. He runs a Maruti Authorised Service Station and knows his job. His phone number is 9986301054.

Blew the head gasket at 6 a.m. as I was approaching Ramnagara, finally got to a service station at 10:30. Since the fly wheel bolt was jammed and could not be opened due to the confined space, the entire engine and gear box had to be removed.
Finally left for home at 7:30 p.m. and got home at 9 p.m..
Had a delightful day.
P.S.: For all you Sholay fans... Ramnagara is where the film was shot.

OOPS.. Sad story chief...
SO, you spent a day at Ramanagaram, missed out on fishing, missed out on Mylari....
Should have scaled some of the Ramanagaram rocks
Actually, IcemanV dropped by and it did pass my mind to call you, or even visit you at Forbes... maybe we should have called...

I had no plans of stopping at Mylary as I wanted to catch the early morning murrel action. The water is said to have cleared and yesterday was the third successive day we have had a clear blue sky and I was itching to have a go at the murrel. Infact, I had decided that if the car was fixed by 2 p.m., I would still make a dash to Forbes for a couple of hours of fishing. I hope there are no unpleasant surprises in store for next Saturday. This 43rd year of mine sure hasn't started well. First the fall in the bath on the Saturday before last and now this.

Dashed bad luck Mack The Knife. Still, your guardian angel was obviously working weekends and sent Menezes your way. Trust he was a chatty type and you were well supplied with tea and smokes.
Good idea TenX, I'll bring the coconuts

Not if I have to sell off one of my guns to pay for the needful.Time you visited a temple
Lucky you. Because had you called, I would have told you chaps that I was having a whale of a time and to come on over.He still was.. and thats why we dropped the idea of 'visiting' you.
The GA was working overtime. He made me stop before the engine seized and then brought the cost of repairs to Rs.1427.00. I had Rs.1440.00 on me.Still, your guardian angel was obviously working weekends and sent Menezes your way....
Tea and smokes were not a problem but water was. I used up close to 4 litres of drinking water after the radiator had cooled down and did not dare to spend a Rupee on the stuff after I asked Manohar for an estimate.
Manohar is a good egg. Even though the shop was full of cars needing his attention, he personally came to tow me back and even told me that I could pay the balance later if needed. I trust you guys have jotted down his details.

That has been aptly entered into the phone-book; however, have no real intention of using itMack The Knife Bana";p="58023 wrote: ...I trust you guys have jotted down his details....
Alternately, Maruti also has a 24/7 number, who will inform the nearest authorized service center to look you up, but I doubt if their charges will be anywhere close to what Manohar charged you
Totally agree... I used the 800 that I owned previously to haul building material (ceramics, sand, granite, etc etc) and did about 19000 kms in 1 year, totally spending 3800 INR on the car, during that 12 months 'Best' in terms of suitability for Indian roads, cost of maintenance/repairs plus mileagengrewal";p="58028 wrote: Good old Mrooti tough as nails we used to ride the jalopy all over the place used it as a farm truck hauling what not! Plus any mechanic can fix it with wire and chewing gum...

I dont see any mention of the moral support provided to you in these trying times by a young gentleman. I'm just going to blame it on old age. So I'll let it pass.
I bet it was a message from the car. If I interpret correctly its: 'I've been haulin your a$$ for so long and all you could think about is your guns! And now fishing! Hmmmph! We'll see about that!'

Re: Car repairs on Bangalore - Mysore Highway.
Considering you called me 15 minutes after I pulled the car over, I wonder if you had anything to do with it. I mean there are coincidences and then some mighty fishy coincidences.
Thanks for the call.

.. and the tiny device had a call back feature to let the 'planter' know of the success in failing the engine
... and not to forget the built in Plan 'B' feature.. not worth discussing!
