I have been scanning IFG for the last couple of days and notice that most of the new posts or replies etc always seem to be in the Air Guns forum !!!
Does this mean that most of the members here are only Air Gun owners ?
Was told that mundaire had conducted a poll on this but i am not aware , hence can someone tell me what the poll results were ?
Just for the record i own 02 shotguns & 02 airguns.
Hopefully in times to come i will add 01 handgun and a .22rifle to my loving family of guns...
Cheers Rohit.

Because what i assume most of the members here do not have an arms licence.so the only way is to buy an Air gun and wait for the lic. to get approved.

My guess is that out of 900 plus members, less than 10%, closer to 5 are actual gun owners, the rest would comprise of AR owners or wannabes.
PS is the Karni Singh Range is open or has it been handed over to the PWD for prep of the Commonwealth games.
Cheers

A cheap but eminently serviceable Indian made single barrel shotgun can be had for around INR 5,000/- which is close enough to the price band of Indian made airguns... so it's not money holding people back... I guess it's simply a matter of access... airguns don't require a license, hence they are easier to own which translates into higher interest...
Though honestly if one is actually determined to get an arms license it should come through in the majority of cases, at least if one is to go by the poll conducted here - http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?t=3100
Only 9% of respondents claimed to have had their applications rejected with another 7% applications still in progress. A full 39% of respondents said they'd never applied for an arms license but planned to do so sometime in the future. Which leads one to the conclusion that if you really put your heart into it, you should be able to get an arms license (after jumping through all the bureaucratic hoops). Of course this was a poll with a very small sample size (just 41 responses) and therefore cannot be assumed to be truly representative of the ground reality.
The other poll we conducted here asked how many firearms each member here actually owns. The poll has had only 52 respondents so far and the results are at http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?t=3093
Once again the sample size is small, but if one contrasts it with the previous poll the results seem contradictory as in this poll only 21% of respondents said that they do not own any firearms and/ or own only airguns with a further 1% owning neither - while in the previous poll a full 39% stated that they had never applied for an arms license... While I'm no statistician/ expert pollster it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that the two polls don't add up...
Cheers!

I wud agree wth Abhi that if one really has a mind to and puts their heart into it , you can obtain an arms license in Delhi at least for a shotgun.
One can always cite reasons such as taking up Trap or Skeet shooting provided one has a valid range & dsra membership.
In my case i got my life memberships for nrai & dsra many many years ago although i cannot honestly say that the nrai membership has been of much use !!!
Dsra membership surely helped me in getting ammo issued at the range to shoot Trap or Skeet.
