Glock, Taurus, Webley, possibly some more gun manufacturers are coming to India. It's going to rain guns. Like the rain on the sea, this rain also will be useless for ordinary mortals. In 2019, about 24000 licences were issued. That is the civillian market for guns, not counting the government purchase. Further about 64 lakh guns will be released by 34 lakh licencees, since one man can own only one gun. At 24000 per year licensing rate, it will take about 266 years (year2286CE) to get rid of these guns. Where is the market for these new entrants except defence forces? The government should issue atleast 5L licences a year for gun manufacturers to make profit.

A very reasonable proposition, given that the average citizen is totally at the mercy of armed criminals. Women particularly need to carry handguns to protect themselves, as crimes against them are increasing day by day. A handgun is a great equalizer.

This should go hand in hand with training in gun safety, in teaching awareness of dangerous situations and how to avoid them, practice with dry firing as well as with live ammunition and the development of physical and mental toughness to follow through the course of action once decided upon.

Sure, the statistics are distessingly astronomical, but unfortunately, even certain members of this wonderful forum, seem to be hell bent upon defeating the purpose. This being the scenario in a site for weapon aficionados makes me shudder about the mind washed folks, we meet everyday (weapons as a topic of conversation invites ridicule, fear, contempt and so on) . Hate to be a wet blanket, but the prevailing scenario is ominous...doesn't bodes well at all for the ones with a fighting spirit.
