3 poachers held for smuggling 19 Siberian birds in UP

SANT KABIR NAGAR: Three poachers were arrested while trying to smuggle out 19 Siberian birds from Bakhira bird sanctuary, police said on Monday.

Forest guards caught the poachers while trying to smuggle out the birds and fired at them on Sunday night.

Three poachers were injured in the firing, police said adding 19 Siberian birds and a boat were recovered from their possession.

Siberian birds have started arriving in the sanctuary and the forest department has asked its staff to be alert and take all steps necessary to check poaching.

Well that should be a deterrent for poachers, maybe the forest guards could do with a little more training in marksmanship, best deterrent would be the death of some poachers.. gather kaziranga national park guards have shot several poachers.
