50,00,000/- fine for killing tigers, panther, jungle cat ..

Posts that don't fit into any other category. If it's anything to do with guns, it probably doesn't belong here!

50,00,000/- fine for killing tigers, panther, jungle cat...

The Rajasthan state government has announced a fine of INR 50,00,000.00 (approx US$ 125,000.00) AND a prison sentence of 10 years for anyone found killing (read poaching) Tiger, Panther, wolf, desert fox, jungle cat, caracal, gharial, bustard, sloth bear & dolphin..

A step in the right direction, other states should also follow.. Just hope its not to late for the tiger...

I hope there is some enforcement backbone allotted to this noble effort. Maybe even some audits, like current counts, and periodic counts and accountability of the changes. Like an annual inventory. Still, good steps in the right direction.

Apples and oranges and sorry but IMHO an unwarranted comparison.I do not place any premium on Wildlife than on human life.I be.lieve the two issues require an independent discussion. As Sharief said let there be some muscle to the law and sincere efforts to implement them.

A step in right direction but agree with Sharief Govt needs manpower and will to enforce these laws.

Best
